Earlier this year I wrote about the Huggable Heros Program. A program that recognizes young people making great contributions in their community.
This year’s class of Huggable Heroes is tackling a variety of issues from illiteracy, poverty and feeding the hungry, to inspiring youth to volunteer, raising funds to help cure diseases, supplying items for military troops and toys for children in need. Collectively, they have spent 650 hours a month volunteering and raised funds and gathered items valued at more than $22.5 million. Personally, I think volunteering or contributing in some way is the best lesson a child can learn. So much of this world is focused on ‘me me me’ and not enough about others- to show a child (or an adult) something about the plight of others is invaluable.
I read some of hteir stories and boy what a groups of fantastic kids they are. Their futures will soar with great success.
