Cold and Flu season is here, we have already had all 3 kiddos come home from school sick. I am hoping that the flu contains itself so I don’t have to go through this every few weeks.

When any of us get sick, we always make sure to have Kleenex on hand. We have boxes at home, and small travel packs for back packs and the car. We are taking all precautions we can to keep teh flu away from the house.

Cold and flu season has always been unpredictable. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), although epidemics of cold and flu happen every year, the timing, severity, and length of the season varies from one year to another. That means that the cold and flu can hit your family without warning, and if you aren’t prepared with cold and flu essentials like Kleenex Everyday Tissue, you might be left scrambling and playing catch up after sickness has entered your home.

Kleenex tips

  • 96% of school nurses agree that when a child comes to school sick, other children tend to catch his or her virus.
  • The Center for Disease Control recommends facial tissues as one of the key strategies to minimize cold and flu viruses.
  • Every year, the U.S. alone reports more than one billion colds and 35 – 50 million flu cases.
  • Boost your immune system with Vitamin D – enjoying a little sunshine can help.
  • To help reduce your fever, put wet towels around your shoulders instead of your forehead.
  • Avoid using humidifiers when you’re sick – they can actually spread the flu germs.
  • Not all liquids hydrate equally – stick to water, herbal tea and fruit juice when you’re sick.
  • All colds are contagious, regardless of mucus color.

Visit the Kleenex brand website for helpful tips and advice to prepare your home for what’s ahead, and useful information to help you avoid the last minute trips to the store so that you care for your family when someone gets sick.

My personal tip for keeping the flu away would be wipe down all doorknobs, and sanitize toys etc. after anyone gets a cold.

Have you stocked up on Kleenex tissue for cold and flu season?

Finding The Perfect Dress For Homecoming and Beyond #SP #Prom #Homecoming #PerfectDress

Disclosure: This is a compensated post for DressFirst through Blogvertise. All opinions are 100% my own.

I remember being in high school and always trying to find the perfect dress every time Homecoming or another dance would be announced. Homecoming most of all was a big deal in our school and I always wanted to look my best.

Then came Prom and the dresses had to get better and fancier. The style was floor length gowns that were sparkly.

Then the next dress every girl dreams of is her wedding dress. It’s something that today I still dream about even though I am married. I had a courthouse wedding and I wore my senior year prom dress (a black sparkly gown). My husband was 9 months away from deployment, so we didn’t want a big wedding.

If my big wedding did happen I would dream of a dress like this

Travels With Gannon and Wyatt Reading Series @GannonAndWyatt #GannonWyatt

Travels with Gannon and Wyatt is a middle-grade adventure series written by Patti Wheeler and Keith Hemstreet. It focuses on brothers who go on wild adventures, and find ways to overcome all the obstacles in their way.

  • Gannon and Wyatt Great Bear Rainforest (October 2013)
  • Gannon and Wyatt Egypt  (January 2014)

My daughter is in the middle of reading this series and she is loving it. It is full of adventure and fun. We are done with Botswana and half way through Great Bear Rainforest. Botswana was really interesting and had a lot of information about different animals.

IMG_0972

Botswana- the boys go on a vacation to Botswana and find out a poacher has wounded a lioness. They decided to go out into the wild and try and save the Lioness before the poachers can kill her cubs. During their journey they encounter tons of different animals and learn that these animals are not as dangerous as those trying to hunt it.
Great Bear Rainforest seems to be just as exciting as Botswana. Gannon and Wyatt set out to find a mythical creature called the Spirit Bear. Along their journey some of the people in their trip go missing, so they go off on their own to find out what is going on. They end up getting lost and find solitude in the First Nation people. They uncover a big scandal going on and have to try and save the people that are missing.
Egypt- Gannon and Wyatt win a prestigious award from the exploration society. After that they travel to Egypt to study with a world famous archeologist trying to find Cleopatra’s lost tomb. The boys are so excited to find all the secrets and treasures it holds, but so are tomb raiders. Gannon and Wyatt must brave all the obstacles to stay safe and preserve history.

These books are easy to read for middle aged children. My daughter is eight and is loving them. Each book is has less than 200 pages. My daughter loves that at the end of the books there are travel maps showing where Gannon and Wyatt have traveled.

Through the Month of November Gannon and Wyatt Facebook page will be giving away 3 Kindle Fires.

You can find out more about the books here.

You Can Have Your All

Disclosure: This is a compensated post.

There is a new book out for women driven to success. It’s called You Can Have It Your All, By Dr. Jane Goldner.

41hMHwpD0dL._SY344_PJlook-inside-v2,TopRight,1,0_SH20_BO1,204,203,200_

“The ‘real life’ stories and the practical toolkit make this book one that you will want to keep, refer to and recommend to your spheres of influence!” Women today are being told by successful businesswomen that the key to ‘having it all’ is leaning in. Dr. Jane Goldner, on the other hand, believes that success is not a one size fits all concept. She states that women can “have it all,” but poses the question: “What does ‘it all’ really mean?” Throughout the book, Dr. Goldner provides the answer that “it all” is different for each person, and discusses the paths women have taken to go from homemakers to “doing dishes, diapers, and million-dollar deals,” with many choices in-between. A critical lesson is that before a woman “leans in,” she needs to figure out “her all.” Based on her own life experiences and those of 14 other highly successful senior-level professional women, Women Driven to Success provides examples of role models as well as a tool kit to help women define and live THEIR ALL. Among the many topics that Dr. Goldner covers in her book are: – The need for each woman to define her own CORE, her ‘North Star’ -Why being ‘everything to everybody’ is NOT the answer – Learning the skills of negotiation and confrontation – The important difference between taking personal time to stay healthy, and having to take time to be sick Dr. Goldner is a business consultant with nearly 30 years experience.

This book has nothing but positive reviews and is great to get your spirit up and really help you get your goals in life. You can purchase this book here.

The Good Wife Is About To Get Serious

If you have been watching “The Good Wife” then you know that the show is getting really good. Every episode has been full of drama and leaving fans on the edge of their seats waiting for what happens next.

The Good Wife stars Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Julianna Margulies as Alicia Florrick, a wife and mother who reinvents her life following her husband’s sex and political corruption scandal. Four years into her tenure at the law firm of Lockhart/Gardner, Alicia accepts a prestigious partner offer from her bosses, Diane Lockhart, Will Gardner and David Lee. However, a mutual attraction with Will leaves Alicia conflicted after she agrees to renew her vows with her husband, Peter, who has won the gubernatorial election with the help of campaign manager Eli Gold. After much thought, Alicia agrees to leave Lockhart/Gardner to start a new firm with her colleague, Cary Agos, who is unable to convince investigator Kalinda Sharma to join them. Now, Alicia must find a way to balance her evolving career, her new position as First Lady of Illinois and her roles as a wife and mother to her teenage children, Zach and Grace. Emboldened by the prospect of taking control of her future, Alicia bravely ventures into unknown territory

The Next episode is entitled ” Hitting The Fan”
It is the most explosive episode yet. Here are some details on the episode:
Alicia and Cary’s plans to depart Lockhart/Gardner are suddenly exposed and a desperate battle to retain clients ensues.

The show will air on Sunday October 27th at 9PM ET.

Thinking about the upcoming episode, you have to decide which team you are on. Team Lockhart/Gardner or Team Florick/Agos?

Unknown

I think I would have to be on team Florick/Agos, I think it’s great that Alicia is branching out and starting her own firm. She is doing everything she should be to help her family and herself. after all she couldn’t stay at Lockhart/Gardner law firm with her attraction to Will, it will only cause problems with everyone.

Making Ultimate Party Meatballs

Disclosure: I received Heinz, Johnsonville and Ocean Spray products in exchange for sharing this recipe. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

One meal my kids absolutely love to eat, is anything made with meatballs. So far the only meal I have been able to perfect is spaghetti and meatballs. Whenever I try to make a meatball hero it doesn’t turn out right. I just haven’t found the right ingredients.

I was given the chance to try Ultimate party Meatballs. It is a simple recipe to make in the slow cooker. All you need is…
Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce
Heinz Chili sauce
Meatballs

cimg0152

Place meatballs in slow cooker
Combine sauces and pour over meatballs
Cover and cook 4 hours on high

cimg0157

It’s that simple to make. Plus not a big mess to clean up afterward, if you use slow cooker liners.

*They really turned out great, Just the right amount of flavor. We made meatball subs and decided to even have a few as a appetizer before our meal. I received a coupon to try Johnsonville’s new frozen meatballs with this recipe, unfortunately they are not available in my area yet. We ended up making our own meatballs with ground sausage.

This would be a great recipe to make this holiday and enjoy. For more information visit here.

What To Do When You Don’t Have A Kleenex Tissue

Disclosure: This is a compensated post with Kleenex brands. All opinions are my own.

There have been so many times I have not had a tissue nearby to wipe my nose and have used my sleeve or arm. It’s gross I know, but it happens. I did it a lot as a child and teen. It’s easier to just have your sleeve your arm to wipe your nose.
As a mother people always looked at me weird, because I would wipe my child’s nose with my fingers. As a mom you do everything for your infant, and if I didn’t have a kleenex tissue on hand. I had to do the ext best thing, but of course I washed my hand.
