saving money during the holidays

I’m not an expert, but I like to try and save money around the holidays. It’s so hard though because there are so many deals and hot items.

1. ask yourself do i really need/want it. When you see a great bargain your impulse is to buy it, but most people just return it, it was something they didn’t need.

2. shop clearance-I shop the clearance section everytime i go to the store. Amazing deals, and you can put it away for the holidays.

3. Thrift stores- A lot of people don’t like shopping at thrift stores but you can find some amazing deals there. Including gently used clothes, toys, books and more.

The best time tip I can give you is to do everything early. I shop for christmas all year long because I know around Christmas time we are usually broke.   It’s not even december and our tree is up!

Another saving tip: if you are in the market for a real tree go to lowes or home depot, the are cheaper than a tree farm.

Ther are some great sites for helping save money. One of them is www.CouponChief.com , they have over 40k coupns for 8000 stores. It’s definitly a great way to save money.

Black Friday Shopping

Black friday is coming up “biggest shopping day of the year” and I’m not really that interested. Yes there are some good deals and I will be going to one store at least.

I care about the clothes and toys, not the electronics like a lot of people. for example: Walmart will have childrens pajamas for $3 and hoodies for $3 that is worth it enough for me to go. I don’t think i’ll have to fight a crowd for that.  I would like to go early just to make sure i get the right sizes.

You can check out the Walmart ad in todays paper or search black friday and tons of sites will have all the ads.

So here is a question for you! Are you going to go shopping Friday? Or even fight the crowds

Saving on style for the kids

If I see a great bargain, i’ll but it. Even if the clothes won’t fit my kids for a year or so. They grow so fast, and usually you won’t find great  bargains like that. Yesterday I found Disney baseball caps and even full summer outfits for $1.00 a piece. stocked up. My son is only twenty months and i bought outfits all the way up to 3T. He’ll be there soon, so why not.

I love shopping at outlets and thrift stores for my kids, you find amazing deals, brand names, and great styles.  I know when people think thrift store, you think used, cheap. Actually a lot of the clothes are gently used, and I’ve even found clothes that are brandnew with the tags still on.

I try and teach my children about saving money.  I always tell them that you should always try to hit the clearance rac first, toI’ve also taught them that name isn’t everything. its quality and price that really matters.

I have to admit that I am really bad about shopping. I usually will buy kids clothes when i see a great bargain, if my kids need clothes or not.
