Now that summer is finally here, the kids are wanting to get out and go to the park, hike and have fun. We don’t go out to eat all that often so we have started packing picnics for our adventures.

The kids love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and always opt for Skippy’s chocolate peanut butter with jelly.

For the adults we have a sandwich with lunchmeat. I prefer Turkey and my husband ham. We always add chips and fun snacks into the mix and it turns out to be a perfect picnic.

Hormel has great flavors and they are 100% natural. No preservatives and no artificial ingredients for a nutritious lunchmeat option that tastes great and is better than the deli. The prepackaged natural deli meats even come in a recyclable package

We had a fun picnic right on the water and it turned out to be a great day with the best food.

I talk about it a lot, but being a mom can be stressful and very busy. Some days you just want to plop on the couch after a long day and relax. Not have to worry about cooking, or cleaning. I had one of those nights a few days ago.
The kids were home all day fighting, I was cleaning and trying to keep the occupied while packing for our move. I just didn’t feel like cooking over a hot stove after that, so I pulled out the Lloyd’s pulled Pork that Hormel had sent us, and it was a instant hit.

DSCN1156

I love southern BBQ, and while this isn’t quite what you can get in the south it was delicious. Not to mention I don’t have to worry about meat cooking in a slow cooker all day.

DSCN1154

Just put the pulled pork in a bowl microwave and add BBQ sauce and you have a yummy family dinner.

Everyone loved it and we can’t wait to try the other varieties including pulled Chicken, and Beef Brisket.

Hormel is introducing a few new meat items to their line up this year. One of them being new taco meats. It’s so simple to make dinner now with Hormel’s Taco meats.

DSCN1147

The meats are already seasoned and ready to go. It is already fully cooked and you just warm it up in the microwave or cook it on the stove top.

DSCN1148

We tried out the shredded chicken. It said it was already seasoned and was the dark meat.
I would of actually preferred it to be white meat but it was good. Maybe could of used a bit more seasoning, but everyone liked it. It was the perfect addition to our taco night. I used it on a tostada with refried beans and lettuce and cheese.

choose from shredded chicken, shredded beef, shredded pork, or beef crumbles. These meats are perfect for Tacos, quesadillas, tostadas, burritos or salads. Which variety will you choose?

With three kids time can get away from me, and the day can get stressful. When that happens I am just not in the mood to cook dinner, so I opt for something easy to make my family.

My oldest daughter loves Pasta and would eat it all the time. I recently found Hormel’s Creamy Tomato Basil Penne in our local supermarket and it was only $1.99.

My daughter loves it, and says it tastes use like the pasta you get at restaurants.

What is your go to meal when you don’t feel like cooking?

We love to celebrate Cinco De Mayo the best way we can. We sit down for a nice family diner with home made mexican food. My kids love tacos and burritos, but I decided to take it a step further this year.

DSCN0858

In addition to tacos and burritos I made my own tostadas, using Hertz Corn tortillas.

DSCN0859

I just followed a recipe on Hormel foods.
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup refried beans, heated
1 1/2 cups shredded lettuce
1/2 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend
4 corn tortillas
Beef or chicken

Cook ground beef or chicken. I like to slow cook the chicken in Chi Chi’s salsa all day and then shred it when done.
In skillet, heat oil. Fry tortillas, 1 at a time, until crisp; drain on paper towels. Place tortillas on baking sheet; keep warm.
Spread warm refried beans on each tortilla; top with chicken or beef, lettuce and cheese. Serve with salsa, sour cream and guacamole, if desired.

To finish off our meal with we of course had chips and salsa, and Guacamole.

I admit that I get stuck in my ways and make the same things over and over again, but I decided to do something a little different and make chicken stir fry for dinner.

It was something I have never made before and was hoping it would turn out really well. I decided to use House Of Tsang Sweet and Sour Sauce.

House Of Tsang is from the Hormel brand and was designed by well known chef David Tsang to bring the flavors of Asia into your kitchen.

DSCN0594

I thought the stir fry turned out great, I added tons of fresh veggies and added a little extra sweet and sour sauce for flavor.

We paired it with rice and a few homemade California Rolls and it was so yummy.

Have you ever tried House of Tsang before or stir fry?

This is one dish I will definitely be making again.

My kids were really pleased with the grilled cheese and pepperoni sandwiches. They were asking for more, and loved it.

We even did Ham and grilled cheese, with the leftover Hormel Cure81 Ham we have from Easter. My son just loved that. He said it gives it extra flavor.

Are you having grilled cheese today? What are you doing to spice it up?  There are so many ways you can spice up your Grilled Cheese on National Grilled Cheese Day.  My mom would warm us up on a cold day with grilled cheese and tomato soup and we would dip the grilled cheese in the soup.

Every Easter We celebrate with a nice dinner and eat together as a family. It’s hard during school and work to actually be able to eat at the same time, so we make it a point to on Holidays. This year my kids decided to go with a ham for dinner, but knowing them they won’t eat very much. We ended up with a really big Hormel Cure 81 ham, that was on sale for a good price.

DSCN0570

Cooking it was a cinch and everyone loved it for dinner, pairing it with pineapple, mashed potatoes and veggies and salad.

DSCN0571

We were left with tons of leftovers, and my kids complained that we were eating ham for days. There are so many things you can have ham with so we made the best of it.

What was on the table for Easter at your house? Do you prefer ham for special occasions?

Happy St. Patricks Day! A day where you can wear green and eat all the corn beef and cabbage you want. Actually thats more of a American tradition, but still fun to participate in.

This year we went all out and actually made Corn Beef and Cabbage with Hash.
I made the Corn Beef in the slow cooker and it came out very tender and juicy. Just season and put in slow cooker for 5-6 hours on high. Add in cabbage at the end, and it’s delicious.

DSCN0502

We paired it with Hash of course and mash potatoes with skin.
The hash we made on the stove and added in with our meal, it was the perfect touch. We used Can Hormel Mary Kitchen Hash, and have plenty left over for breakfast dishes.
