School starts in a week for us, everyone is so excited. One thing I am worried about is lunches. My kids are so picky and usually only eat parts of their school lunches, mainly the fruit or snacks. So I pack their lunches whenever the menu is something I know they won’t eat.

Usually I would pack Peanut butter and Jelly, something I know my kids would eat. Unfortunately, each one of my children have a child with peanut allergies in their class. So peanut butter is not a option. The next best thing my children will eat is Turkey sandwiches.

When I buy lunchmeat I always look for Hormel first, the packaging is easy and I know it tastes good.

I pair the sandwich with a apple or orange, juice box and of course a snack of crackers.

Hormel is introducing two new flavors to their lunch meats, Cherrywood Smoked Ham and Sun Dried Tomato Turkey. Hormel Natural Choice lunch meats have zero preservatives and no artifical colors or flavors.

We loved the new flavors and my kids have asked me to stock up on Sun Dried Tomato for their school lunches.

Whats your child’s favorite back to school sandwich?

Summer is here, and our one goal was to take a vacation, but that isn’t going to happen this year. We just don’t have the money. So instead we have been having a lot of cookouts and get together with friends.
I thought this last get together for Fathers Day would be the perfect time to make a full meal of Hormel products.

Unknown-1

I was put to the challenge to make a entire meal out using Hormel products.
I decided that our starters or appetizers, would be Hormel Party Tray. My kids specially my daughter loves the cheese and crackers. Plus it’s not filling and it’s really easy to put together for a party.

For our main course we chose a family favorite: Hormel’s Pork Loin Apple Bourbon. Everyone in my family loves it! We choose to grill it when we make it, and it turns out so tender and flavorful.

For a side dish I made my Mom’s Macaroni salad, but gave it a little kick by adding bacon to it. I made Hormel’s Pre-cooked bacon and just crumbled it up into the salad. It was so good.

This was such a delicious meal, I will definitely be making everything again.

What is your go to meal with Hormel Products?

Did you know that Hormel owns tons of different brands?  They do! including brands that are perfect for Cinco De Mayo, like Chi Chi’s, La Victoria, and more.   I typically do not celebrate Cinco De Mayo, but I am trying to teach my kids about different cultures and traditions.

So this year I decided to have my own little celebration. I know it’s not really authentic, but I tried.

W made chicken and beef taco’s with ChiChi’s tortillas, Chi Chi’s Chips, La Victoria Salsa.

I am not the best cook and i hate shredding chicken for taco’s so i just used Hormel’s chicken in a can.

We also had beef taco’s refried beans and of course chips and salsa.

This is my favorite time of year, well sometimes. Just depends on if the snow goes away. LOL! This year April has been very nice, plus Earth Day is in April. I love Earth day.

We celebrated by having a picnic and cleaning up the park and the streets around out house.

I used my new reusable bag, which I love for outing and picnics.

IMG_0272

I love to picnic and my kids love to do it too. Our sandwiches were all Hormel’s Natural choice Turkey and Ham. I love that the packaging is made 100% from recycled materials. Our picnic was all Earth friendly, sandwiches were packed in reusable containers, we had reusable water bottles and recyclable juice boxes.

April 22nd marks the 43rd anniversary of the celebration of Earth Day! This year, the Earth Day Network announced that the main focus of Earth Day will be to help put a face to climate change. One of the easiest ways to help prevent climate change is through a commitment to minimizing waste and recycling as much as possible. In order to make Earth Day a success, it is essential that each and every person set environmental goals, contribute and do their part.

What efforts do you and your family make to try and minimize your carbon footprint? What is your favorite “eco-friendly” activity?

Celebrating St. Patricks Day with #HormelFamily

Yes, I know St. Patricks Day has come and gone, but being Irish the food is alway here to stay!!  Although most people go for the traditional corned beef and cabbage on St. Patricks Day, I don’t.   We do a a family breakfast every year, we have eggs, toast and Hash.

Life can get so stressful at times that cooking the hash just isn’t possible and we always look for the easy way out. Luckily Hormel brand Mary Kitchen has Corned Beef Hash in a can for those easy recipes. It is actually quite good  in certain recipes.

Our St. Patricks Day breakfast turned out great.

The hash mixed in with a cheese omelet and bacon was so very good. I love our breakfast tradition.

Valentines Day Dinner #HormelFamily

Growing up I never really celebrated Valentines day, it was always a bad time in my family.  Now that I am older, I celebrate it but don’t really make that big of a deal about it. Usually we just have a nice family dinner, or go out to eat as a family.   This  year unfortunately my husband had some business dinners to attend. (Yeah, I know on Valentines day of all days). So it was just me and the kids for Valentines day dinner.

So, since I don’t have a nice romantic dinner to share, I will share my idea of a typical Valentines Day for me.

The table would be set nice.

Witha  table cloth and the plates and silver ware set orderly. No candles though

house-of-tsang-products

Valentines Day dinner would consist of something new and different like teryaki chicken or some kind of stir fry wrap as a appetizer using Sesame Oil.

then the main course would consist of Like steak and sausage, with mashed potatoes and vegetables and rice.

What did your Valentines Day sinner consist of?

What to Make with All Those Holiday Leftovers #HormelFamily

I have never been a big person on eating leftovers, but they have to get eaten. I always look to create new and great recipes with the leftovers.
This holiday season we had Ham galore.

We had a ham dinner for Christmas and another for New Years Eve dinner. We had leftovers both times.
The kids weren’t to thrilled about all the leftovers, so we made the next best thing for them. A big breakfast.

Ham and Eggs!

Ham and cheese omelet!
