Adding some Culture to your holiday meal #HormelFamily

I’ll admit it. I am a very picky eater, I will usually choose a Hamburger over any else. I am not big on Ethnic food at all, but since my husband is I will give it a try from time to time.

Growing up I always just had a Turkey celebration with my family.  My husband though always had a traditional Lebanese dinner with Grape Leaves and more.  So he has always had a taste for having big celebrations with tons of different foods.

This Christmas we Decided we would give everything we ate a new twist. We prepared a Hormel Cure 81 Ham for our Christmas dinner, we usually have turkey.  So that was a delicious and great difference.  We also had potatoes with Hormel bacon pieces and salad with Peloponnese Kalamata Pitted Olives.

The Thing About Holiday Meals #HormelFamily

Every year for Thanksgiving we have always done Turkey, it seems to be a holiday tradition, and not to mention the one thing my kids will actually eat. You can’t have the turkey without all the great sides.

This year though we decided to be different and let the kids choose what they wanted for Thanksgiving dinner. Of course they picked something that would not really be considered a holiday meal. We went with it though! They chose Steak and veggie kabobs with ribs. Yes, I agree very far fetched, but we did that with the fixings.
My husband has a lactose intolerance, so we make everything leaving out a few ingredients. LIke Mashed Potatoes, we boil potatoes and then add Dairy Free butter and salt and pepper. That’s it! We also had corn and bread.

The food was a bit of a undertaking, the weather was nice so we were able to use the grill. We cooked the kabobs with chicken and sausage, and squash, potatoes, onions and Peloponnese peppers. The ribs were already pre made with Lloyd’s Beef BBQ ribs.

Of course we loved serving dinner with our new Thanksgiving pot holders and dish rags!

What did you do for Thanksgiving? Did you stick with Turkey and Ham? Do you have allergies to avoid when cooking?

Making Pizza with Hormel

1 day a week we have pizza night, it’s my favorite night of the week. My husband and children all make a pizza. They specially make it since my husband is lactose intolerant, so they make it with soy cheese.

We usually always just put Hormel pepperoni on the pizza, that usually all my kids would eat. This week though we decided to also add Hormel’s new pizza toppings. So we had pepperoni, beef and sausage. My kids loved it.

The new toppings are great. Just put them on top of the pizza and bake.

You can find Hormel Pizza toppings at any grocery store.

The Most Important Meal Of the Day With Hormel #HormelFamily

Usually breakfast time consists of cereal and milk, we are so busy in the morning I never really have time to cook. Getting the kids ready for school, and hubby for work is exhausting. I always make sure that they do eat breakfast and eat enough, as breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

On the weekends though my husband and I cook breakfast for our family. We usually have eggs, bacon etc.   We love having our big breakfast morning with Hormel.

We were trying to follow a recipe we found on the Hormel website, but since I have picky kids we had to make breakfast on our own.

We made egg sandwiches with Hormel bacon and sausage

We also made and it was my favorite  a omelette with Hormel Cure 81 ham, cheese, and Peloponnese Peppers,  Paired With Hormel bacon.

Most important though we are having breakfast together, that’s what I love so much.

How often do you eat breakfast? whats your kids favorite breakfast?

Making Time For Family

We have such hectic schedules and when school starts in a few days it’s going to be kaotic. We still try and make family days and go places together when we can.

This month we went to Build A Bear and treated the kids as well as a amusement park and the beach.

We always try to have a blast, when we can’t get out though we try to have a good time indoors with board games and food.  One of my kids favorite dishes to make is Grilled cheese. It gets old every now and then though so we like to spice it up with Hormel Pepperoni or tomato etc.

they love it.

This morning my husband even made a omlette, which is rare for him to cook.  He made it with cheese, ham, and Peloponnese Sweet Peppers. It was so good.  I wish I could of gotten a picture before it was gobbled up.

What do you do for family fun time? Do you stay home or go out?

Dressing Up Your Hot Dog This Summer

The sun is shining and everyone is enjoying BBQ season. July is National Hot Dog month and July 28th is national chili dog day.

I am not really a big hot dog fan, but my kids love them and I will eat them from time to time. My favorite way to dress up my hot dog is with chili and cheese. They are so good.

When it comes to my kids, it’s usually ketchup and relish or just plain.

there are so many ways to dress up a hot dog, ketchup, mustard, relish, onions etc.

How do your dress up your hot dog? Do you have any family recipes?

Hormel Party Trays are perfect for anytime. #HormelFamily

I just love going to a party or small get together and having finger foods available. I love the trays with cheese, crackers and pepperoni, they are so good.

This Fathers Day we decided to have a nice family brunch, and had a variety of different things to eat. I even decided to bring out the Hormel Party Tray, which I love.

I love how it just has a variety of little finger foods, cheese, cracker, pepperoni and more.   My family loved it.

The party tray has crackers, salami, pepperoni, and 2 kinds of cheese.   There is so much n the tray too, we still have a ton left that we have been using as after school snacks.   The first thing my husband had mentioned when we were eating this was how good everything tasted. He was expecting it to be kind of like a lunchable, but it was so much better. High quality of meat and cheese!

You can find Hormel Party Trays at any supermarket nationwide, they cost about $17 unless on sale.

Have a Fiesta Night With Chi Chi’s Products #HormelFamily

One thing we absolutely love in my house is taco night. We always make hard shell taco’s and Burritos from Chi Chi’s Tortilla’s.

We use Chi Chi’s taco mix for the stuffing in our burritos. They are so good when you out lettuce, cheese and all the toppings on.

Chi Chi’s also has Tortilla chips and salsa, that we love with our taco night and even for a snack.  I pack the snack pack in my kids lunches all the time.

Perfect Time To Have A Picnic On National Picnic day #HormelFamily

June 18, is National Picnic day it’s the perfect time to get your family out nd enjoy lunch outside.

It has been raining here constantly almost everyday for 2 weeks. Luckily it cleared up for 2 days so we could get out and enjoy the sunshine and have fun. We decided to make it a picnic and hiking day.

The best thing about a picnic is location, you want to find a place that has plenty of space for the kids to run around if they get tired. You also want to make sure there is a bathroom nearby.

Here are a few tips provided by Hormel as well as a video to help you with your perfect picnic.

  • If packing sandwiches, make sure to use heartier bread like a baguette as it will not get as soggy over long periods of time. Fill baguettes with slices of your favorite Hormel Natural Choice product and add-on tomatoes, lettuce and other condiments of your choosing.
  • Hormel party trays don’t have to be restricted to indoor gatherings; let them join in the party outside! Bring along your favorite tray to your picnic the Turkey and Cheddar or Supreme Party Tray. Bring along paper plates and utensils and let guests choose their favorites from the tray!
  • Veggies and dip are always great to bring along to your picnic. Try a delicious new Peloponnese® Mediterranean spread available in several different varieties including Artichoke, Hummus and Red Pepper and Cheese. Cut vegetables at home beforehand and store in plastic containers and keep in a cooler along with a dip of your choice!
We chose the best place on Long Island to have a picnic, at Caumsett State park. 1700 acres of running, walking etc. They have plenty of meadows, gardens and even a beach to find the perfect spot to picnic.

We just did the simple things like juice boxes, sandwiches with Hormel meat of course and some Chips. We even tried something new we got some french bread which we ut into little pieces and dipped it into Peloponnese red pepper and cheese dipping sauce.

We had all the fun picnic gear to go with it. My kids said it’s not a real picnic without a basket and blanket. LOL!

Will you be having a picnic on National picnic day? What will you be eating?
