great movie

i took my daughters to see kung fu panda tonight. that was such a great movie and has a wonderful meaning behind it. “believe in yourself” it was funny too! sorry just wanted to share.

don’t want to get into to much detail, and spoil it

fathers day

for fathers day this year, i am planning nothing special. i got my husbanda personalized mouse pad and a flash drive.  i am going to take him out to dinner, probably at chilis. nothing fancy we will have three kids with us.  we invited my brother in law, although he might have to work. we usually make like a big family dinner thing. not this time, just want something small.  what are your plans for fathers day this year?

alexandras birthday

my daughter celebrated har second birthday on the 31 of May. We had a blast, went to the mall and got some gifts. The Disney store is closing at the greensboro mall. It’s sad, so everything was on sale. Anyways, we went to Chuck-E-Cheese after that, had a lot of fun, played games ate pizza. I griped a lot though i’ll admit, my husband got upset about that. I forgot my camera, and they have a little photo booth there. So i wanted to get her pic taken in there but there were two couples like around middle twenty, they would not get out of the photo booth. They took like 30 pictures. So i was getting pissed off. They finally decided to get out when we were walking out the door. The whole time to they were laughing and whispering like they knew what they were doing to piss me off on purpose. We came home and had a dora cake,  so it was a fun day except that one problem!

the first swim

It got hot enough for me to bring out our little pool and set it up. This is the first swim for my kids.   Now we live in a apt. and there are no hose connections, so I had to fill up a bucket like 7-8 times to get the pool filled. It was worth it though! We do have a pool in the apartments, but it’s always overcrowded and to many people do crazy things (don’t follow rules) not the best atmosphere for 3 kids all under the age of 4.

My girls had a lot of fun, they preferred to wrestle, and get most of the water on the side walk. My son is almost six months and he got into the action to, not the wrestling. He had a blast though. He was splashing and giggling, it was so cute.

The first swim is always fun when they are little.

i love barbie

I know that sounds wierd coming from a 23 year old, but I do. I love Barbie! I had over 300 barbies plus cars houses and accesories galore.  I don’t play with them anymore actually i got rid of everything when i was 17. I still love to watch the movies though.  Now I have two little girls, and they are finally starting to get into Barbie. My fav movie is the Island Princess. I couln’t really get into mariposa, now there is a new movie coming out in fall 2008 called  Barbie and Theresa in the diamond castle.

Barbie and Theresa are best friends whos loyalty is put to the test when th evil muse Lydia tempts them with gems and jewels,  to reveal the secret of the diamond castle. ( that is from a childs book)   if you’d like to watch a clip go here

Understanding Staph Infections
Staphylococcus aureus, commonly known as “staph,” is a bacterium that can live on the skin and inside the nose of some healthy people. These people are said to be “colonized” or carriers, but they are not considered to be ill with an infection. If a colonized person gets a cut on his or her skin, the bacteria can cause skin and soft tissue infections, such as cellulitis, abscesses, impetigo, folliculitis, and furunculosis. People who are not colonized but have a cut or scrape exposed to staph can also become infected.

Understanding MRSA and CA-MRSA
Excessive use of penicillin antibiotics over the years has led to the development of stronger strains of bacteria that are no longer killed by penicillin-type antibiotics. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a strain of staph bacteria resistant to penicillin and standard penicillin-related antibiotics. MRSA causes the same types of infections that ordinary staph causes. Though MRSA was previously known for being an infection found only in ill people in hospitals, it is now showing up in the general, healthy population. This type of staph infection, known as community-acquired or community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA), can be carried by healthy adults and children who do not have any symptoms. These carriers can get a skin or soft tissue infection with CA-MRSA, or non-carriers might get infected from exposure to staph from another person. These people, if they develop a skin or soft tissue infection, will need to be treated with an antibiotic other than a standard penicillin antibiotic

Signs and Symptoms of MRSA
It is important to note that it is rare for any staph infection to become life threatening in a healthy person. While resistant to penicillin and penicillin-related antibiotics, most CA-MRSA infection treatment successfully utilizes common alternative antibiotics, such as trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, clindamycin, tetracycline, and few others. If your doctor prescribes antibiotics, be sure to take the full course of treatment.

What are some symptoms of a staph skin infection?

  • Red bump that may be pus filled (sometimes mistaken for a spider bite)
  • Warmth
  • Pain
  • Swollen, red, tender skin lesions

If your doctor diagnoses you with a staph infection and you continue to experience these symptoms for more than a couple days, the infection may be a CA-MRSA infection. Signs that you may have a CA-MRSA infection include having the above symptoms coupled with:

  • Little to no improvement with antibiotics after 2–3 days
  • Rapid spread of the infection
  • A previous infection with CA-MRSA

Because CA-MRSA can be passed to others, it is important to follow these prevention tips:

  • As a general rule, always maintain good hand-washing habits. This means washing with an antibacterial soap for at least 20 seconds while rubbing your hands together.
  • Do not squeeze or attempt to drain any sore.
  • Keep any wound covered and clean until it has fully healed.
  • Avoid contact with others’ wounds or bandages.
  • Do not share personal items such as towels, razors, athletic equipment, sheets, clothes, etc.
  • If you or a household member has a wound, wash your laundry in hot, soapy water, with bleach if possible, and dry these items in a hot dryer.

Barbie Mariposa

i have two daughters. Kenzie just turned 3 and Alex will be 2 next month. They were recently introduced to barbie through a video I won on pajama mommy community. Now they have become total Barbie Mariposa fanatics.

Screen Shot 2016-03-14 at 7.47.34 PM

For my daughter third birthday she got almost every barbie from the island princess collection.  It is kind of upsetting that when a new movie comes out they stop selling the barbies for the previous movie. we still have two Barbies and three Kelly’s we have not been able to get from Barbie island Princess.   The new movie Barbie Mariposa has come out and my kids are so excited, They have wanted it for a while. Pajama mommy is giving away 20 copies of the movie Barbie Mariposa. Go on over and check it out win Barbie Mariposa ends 4/18/08

While this contest has ended Barbie movies are still fun and are coming out twice a year. They are still fun to watch and have a great meaning behind each film.
