I love Rascal Flatts, they have been one of my favorite bands for years. So when this album came out I was so excited to receive it.  A few songs that I have been listening to over and over are Banjo, Hot In Here, and Great Big love.  Great Big Love is actually the perfect song to listen to while you are driving, it talks about life i general, being stuck at a red light when your late and the guy honking at you from behind.

I got to listen to Rock of Ages soundtrack thanks to the One 2 One Network.

New Line Records just hammered the in-store release of the Original Broadway Cast Recording of five-time Tony Award nominated “ROCK OF AGES.”  For those of you not in the know, Rock of Ages is the new Broadway musical starring American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis. The musical is an arena-rock love story told through the mind-blowing, face-melting hits of Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake and more.

When i first got the CD i thought wow all my favorite bands/singers and songs.   Knowing that the original singers were not going to sing on the CD, i was still hoping it sounded good. unfortunately it was really bad. The guys that were singing sounded like girls.  It didn’t even sound like the whole song was sang.  Maybe it’s better if you see the actual Broadway show. The CD  though as Simon Cowell would say “that was dreadful.”  It was whiny and girls were singing songs that were really only meant for a guy to sing.  I didn’t like it, but if your a Broadway buff you can find this CD on amazon

Diane Birch review

I got to review Diane Birch’s CD. She is a new artist and her first CD , Bible Belt came out on June 2. Bible Belt hit the Top 10 Albums on iTunes last Tuesday and Diane Birch is receiving high praises from being compared to Stevie Nicks with a little bit of Joss Stone and Cat Power mixed.

Diane Birch was born in Michigan. During Diane’s childhood, her father was a Preacher. She lived in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Australia. Her parents finally settled down in Portland, Organ. Where in Diane’s teen years she gained a unique perspective of life and today uses that perspective in her music.

Bible Belt was written by Diane and was recorded in New York City and New Orleans with an impressive team of Grammy-winning producers: S-Curve Records founder Steve Greenberg, soul legend Betty Wright and Mike Mangini. This is their first project together since producing Joss Stone’s first albums.

She has a beautiful voice, it’s not really my style of music. I think that she sounds like Amy Winehouse just toned down. the songs are very relaxing and she does sound a lot like Stevie Nicks too, which is one of my favs!

yanni voices cd +dvd review

i wrote about the yanni voices tour in febuary you can read about that here

i recieved a copy of yanni voices cd and dvd to review. it was released on march 24 2009

yanni’s instrumental compositions have made him a musical phenomenon. This is the first time ever that a composer and pianist has brought brought vocals to the forefront of his music.

Introducing four young new voices, Nathan Pacheco, Chloe, Ender Thomas and Leslie Mills, all discovered a mentored by Yanni.              The album was released on march 24 and the tour kicks off April 10th.

i didn’t really like it, was not my style of music,it jumped from different style. it went from opera to pop, and it was kindof annoying. relaxing listening to the opera style version, and then bam you jump up a different style.  their voices are beautiful and i’m sure they would make a great solo artist, but together on this cd i didn’t get it.  I like yanni and love his instrumental compositions, but this just wasn’t the same.

ballas hough band

Ballas Hough Band consists of Mark ballas and Derek Hough, both from dancing with the stars (vocals and guitar),Emily Grace on vocals and keyboard, Harry Sullivan on drums, and Sam Marder on bass.

the band was formed in 2005 in London and was called chasing amy, they came  to the us in 2008 and were signed by Hollywood records.

i don’t typically watch dancing with the stars. i’m not really into reality television. but dwts has been on for a while and i never knew they were in a band, and they are great.  usually when you see a professional ballroom dancer, you think to yourself, that’s their talent. these guys offer so much more they can sing too!

Tracks from the album:

1.DO YOU LOVE ME

2. DEVASTATED

3.CLOSER

4.SHE WAS THE ONE

5.LONGING FOR

6.BIRTHDAY

7.FALL

8. DO IT FOR YOU

9.BREAK THROUGH

10. TOGETHER FARAWAY

11.UNDERWATER

my favorite song from the cd was DO IT FOR YOU. it’s got kind of a pop/rock edge to it.  my kids automatically began dancing to it and trying to sing.

their music was actually better than i thought it would be. i was expecting like calm slow classical music or something. thats what i would imagine from ballroom dancers. no it’s the exact opposite. it’s upbeat, got a rock pop edge to it. It’s really great.

want to hear sweet music for valentine’s day

with valentines day just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about what to get that special someone. you should consider a concert, with incredible talents of yanni voices. or even a dinner with yanni playing in the background!

Yanni in collaberation with ric wake, has discovered and developed four of the most extraordinary young voices in music today. Two years in the making, yanni returns to the global stage with a great new tour. for the first time yanni, re-interprets his classic compostions and debuts new music introducing show stopping vocalist.

Nathan pacheco-A Washington, DC native, Pacheco possesses an operatic voice, reminiscent of his Brazilian roots, and sings with the warmth, depth and accessibility that characterizes the great pop artists. This talented singer also writes lyrics in Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish with the passion of a poet. It is the voice, however, that immediately draws people.

Cloe- A native of Largo, Florida, Chloe got an early start on her already lengthy career. She began dancing at the age of three and began writing and singing not long after that. She grew up listening to an eclectic mix of Broadway musicals and pop tunes that shaped her melodic sensibilities. By the age of nine she was already performing professionally at corporate events, and by twelve years of age she was signed to a major-label recording contract with RCA Records

Ender Thomas-Hailing from one of the most hauntingly beautiful and diverse regions on the planet, Venezuelan-born singer Ender Thomas grew up in a musical family. His mother, a singer herself, instilled in him his love of music and a passion for pursuing his muse. As a child, he immersed himself in the many rich styles of music that surrounded him and listened to everything from the traditional romantic ballads of his country, the bolero, to the soundtracks of classic Disney musicals – the lyrics to which he can still recite to this day

Leslie Mills-A native of Fort Mitchell in Northern Kentucky, Leslie discovered an affinity for music at an early age, studying piano, dance and theater. She also wrote poetry as a child and began to compose songs after high school

i listened to song of the songs, and i have to say that i really enjoyed it, considering it’s not what i usually listen too.  very romantic, and tasteful. you can hear more about them and listen to their music here. you can also see a video here
