BODYARMOR Sports Drink Review

There is a new sports drink that just hit shelves.

BottleLineup NEW with LL

BODYARMOR is a natural sports drink with more potassium packed electrolytes, vitamins and coconut water. It is low in sodium and contains NOTHING ARTIFICIAL – unlike other sports drinks on the market. It’s a GREAT choice for young athletes especially, who don’t need all the extra sodium in their diets or the artificial ingredients that come from drinking other sports drinks on the market.

They have 7 different varieties including mixed berry, lemon-lime, strawberry banana, fruit punch, grape, tropical punch, and orange mango.

DSCN1039

We received a six pack and my kids all got to pick out their favorite flavors.

DSCN1075

I try and send my kids to school everyday with water or a sports drink. Not only are they playing outside in the NY heat at school, there is no AC in the buildings, so I want to make sure they stay hydrated. My kids tried BODYARMOR and loved them, they said you can even taste the coconut water in them.
These are such a great option for drinks for the kids.

I saw these advertised at our local Target on Long Island by the registers and were 4 for $5 which is a great deal. BODYARMOR is available at select retailers in your local areas. Here in NY/Metro area they can be found at Target, King Kullen, Fresh Direct and Food Emporium.

The Briefcase Premieres On CBS May 27

4a47a0db6e60853dedfcfdf08a5ca249

The Briefcase will premiere this week May 27, 2015. The Briefcase, features hard-working American families experiencing financial setbacks and are presented with a briefcase containing a large sum of money and a potentially life-altering decision: they can keep all of the money for themselves, or give all or part of it to another family in need.

Each week, two families have 72 hours to learn details about each other’s challenging circumstances and make the weighty decision of what to do with $101,000. However, what they don’t know is that the family with whom they are considering sharing this financial windfall received an identical briefcase with the same instructions. Throughout their journeys, relationships within both families will be tested and beliefs questioned as they find out what really matters most in their lives, and how much importance they place on values such as love, generosity, compassion and faith.

I love the idea of this show and was in tears at the thought of families being so generous. We have always struggled financially, with my husband being in school the last 9 years and having 3 kids. If I were to be on the show, it would be a struggle but of course I would donate the half the money to another family. After all when you help others, you are helping yourself.

You can watch the Briefcase on CBS this Wednesday May 27, 2015.

Also follow along during the premiere with a Twitter Chat. Follow @CBSTweet and @thebriefcasecbs and hashtag #TheBriefcase.

Disclosure: A gift card and products were provided for this post. All opinions are my own.

Avocado and Chorizo Enchiladas

Cinco De Mayo is coming up and everyone and you can’t celebrate without having guacamole. I have found that it is the freshest and tastes best if it’s homemade.

Pic #198 Shrimp and Avocado Enchiladas in Creamy Red Sauce - PJ Recipe #2 Final high

Finding the right Avocado is so simple, Patti Jinich from Patti’s Mexican Table has some tips just for my readers:

Cinco de Mayo is a holiday that calls for celebration and entertaining! According to History.com, “Cinco de Mayo is widely interpreted as a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage” and revelers in the United States “mark the occasion with parades, parties, mariachi music, Mexican folk dancing and traditional foods.” If you’re among the millions celebrating this year, but need some inspiration for a crowd pleasing fiesta with true Mexican flare, you’re in luck!

During the week of Cinco, 33,892,841 Million Pounds of avocados are consumed. That’s enough to fill over 45 million standard Margarita glasses.

Avocados Of Mexico wants to see your favorite photos of how you #CelebrateCinco in 4 categories Mexican fare, Guac, Decor, and Spirits.

There are only 2 days left
Enter your best Guac photos today and any category tomorrow. Upload your photo with hashtag #CelebrateCinco on Twitter or Instagram. You can also upload on Facebook here. Winner gets a $500 cash prize.

How are you celebrating Cinco De Mayo? Will you be making Guac, using Avocados from Mexico?

I really liked the veggie rolls and the Chicken Basil was okay. I honestly think they would of been excellent if I had deep fried them and I just felt they weren’t crunchy enough on the outside, but inside was still very good.

You can try the new World Menu now at Stop and Shop. Prices range from $3.49-$7.99. What will you be trying?

The DoveKeepers 4 Hour Event On CBS

Disclosure: This is a sponsored by the Role Mommy Writer’s Network.

I have been reading the book The DoveKeepers and it’s really really good. I have been so into it I can hardly put the book down. Their is so much excitement and adventure, it leaves you on the edge of your seat. Although it’s based on a story from 2,000 years ago, the story some how feels as it is modern.

The Dovekeepers

Now that I am into the book, I am looking forward to The DoveKeepers 4 hour event series on CBS. It is going to be epic!

The Dovekeepers

Set in ancient Israel, The DoveKeepers is based on the true events at Masada in 70 C.E. After being forced out of their home in Jerusalem by the Romans, 900 Jews were ensconced in a fortress at Masada, a mountain in the Judean desert. Besieged at Masada, the Jews held out for months against the vast Roman armies. The project will recount the events from the perspective of a few extraordinary women who arrive at Masada with unique backstories, but a common bond for survival. Additionally, these women, who work together daily as dovekeepers, are all concealing substantial secrets.

You can watch The DoveKeepers two day mini series on CBS Tuesday March 31 and Wednesday April 1, 2015

Time:9:00 PM-11:00PM

Happy National Pi Day

Disclosure: No formal compensation was received, a product was provided for review.

Today is National Pi Day, a day that only happens once in a century. Today is a day to celebrate math and of course your favorite Pie. Pie consists of 3.141592653

Pi Day started 27 years ago at San Francisco’s Exploratorium. Physicist Larry Shaw, who worked in the electronics group at the museum, started celebrating pi on March 14, 1988, primarily with museum staffers. The tradition has grown to embrace math enthusiasts from all walks of life.

We had fun playing math games during the afternoon, but got to baking this evening.

I am not a big baker, so I took the easy route. I used Wholly Wholesome Pie Crust and a Cherry Pie Filling.

Wholly Wholesome products are truly Natural and gluten free. You can get Pie Crusts or a different pie varieties. I favor them because they are dairy free and everyone in my family can eat them.

Game on for feeding the 12th Man

While chicken wings, dips and other tailgate favorites are sure to be on many menus, why not try putting a twist on meat and potatoes with Stop & Shop’s recipe for turkey chili-topped baked potatoes which are sure to please any crowd!

Turkey Chili-Topped Baked Potatoes
Prep time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 1 hour Serves: 4

Ingredients
• 4 large baking potatoes
• 1 Tablespoon Stop & Shop olive oil
• ½ lb. ground turkey breast
• 1 Tablespoon reduced-sodium taco seasoning mix
• 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies, undrained
• ½ cup Stop & Shop shredded cheddar cheese
• Toppings (optional): sour cream, sliced green onions

Steps
1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Place potatoes on a rimmed baking sheet; prick several times with a fork. Bake 1 hour or until fork-tender. Remove from oven.

2. Meanwhile, in a large nonstick skillet heat oil over medium heat. Add turkey; cook until no longer pink (165°F), stirring to break up turkey. Stir in seasoning mix and tomatoes; simmer 5 minutes or until heated through and slightly thickened. Remove from heat; keep covered.

3. Cut potatoes open lengthwise; squeeze gently to open. Fluff potato pulp with a fork. Spoon turkey mixture evenly over potatoes, top with cheese and desired toppings, and serve.

For more game day recipe ideas, visit the Recipe Center at www.stopandshop.com.

Halftime Healthy
Healthy and tailgate foods don’t often go hand in hand, but Stop & Shop is offering a few better-for-you suggestions to help navigate the football festivities while still enjoying your favorites.

• Don’t go to a party hungry as you will most likely end up eating more. Eat a balanced breakfast and lunch beforehand with lean protein, fruits and vegetables. Include some exercise or activity during the day, which can help balance the calories.

• Try small portions of your favorite dishes and slow down at the buffet. It can take your brain about 20 minutes to recognize fullness.

• Remember the veggie tray! Fill half of your plate with a variety of available vegetables, but go easy on the dip.

• Prepare your tailgate favorites with a few simple recipe swaps like utilizing low fat dairy products or ground turkey, turkey bacon or leaner beef.

Two points for safety
Another way to ensure your party is a success is to remember to keep food safety top of mind throughout the day from preparation to clean up to prevent food-borne illness amongst your guests. Incorporate these tips into your preparations:

• To prevent cross-contamination, be sure to use soap and hot water to wash hands, utensils and surfaces that have touched raw meat or eggs.

• The best way to know if meat is cooked thoroughly is to use a meat thermometer and check the temperature. Before removing from the grill or oven, insert a meat thermometer halfway into the thickest part of the meat, making sure it does not go through to the other side. To prevent harmful bacteria such as E coli, cook meat and seafood to these recommended internal temperatures: ground beef hamburgers – 160oF; ground and whole poultry – 165oF; chops, steaks and roasts from beef, veal or lamb – 145oF for medium rare, 160oF for medium and 170oF for well done; pork chops and roast – 145oF; and shrimp, lobster and crabs – cooked until the flesh is pearly and opaque.

• Keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold to avoid bacteria growth. Also remember the two-hour rule. Perishable foods should be removed from the table and refrigerated promptly. When it doubt, throw it out.
