DisneyNature Earth DVD review

From Press release:DisneyNatureEarthBluray smThe Walt Disney Company introduces a new motion picture label, DisneyNature, to home audiences when Earth comes to Blu-ray™ Hi-Def and DVD on September 1, 2009 from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. The debut home entertainment offering from the label, Earth tells a trio of unforgettable stories sure to captivate movie lovers of all ages. Set against some of the world’s most spectacular vistas, this breathtaking motion picture achievement uses the classic Disney storytelling tradition to celebrate the diversity and determination of its animal stars in a heroic journey that covers the Earth from pole to pole.

Award-winning filmmakers Alastair Fothergill (“The Blue Planet”) and Mark Linfield (“Planet Earth”) employ the latest innovations in film techniques to bring Earth’s stunning visuals to the screen. Narrated by James Earl Jones, the inaugural release from Disneynature is just the beginning of an instantly collectible new line of films and a worthy successor to the beloved, Academy Award®-winning True Life Adventures series, which includes The Living Desert (Best Documentary, Features; 1953) and The Vanishing Prairie (Best Documentary, Features; 1954).

In the Arctic, a mother polar bear trailed by her two cubs searches for food as their icy hunting grounds melt away. A herd of African elephants slowly traverses the arid Kalahari Desert toward the water-rich Okavango Delta. A humpback whale and her calf make a 4,000-mile journey in an epic migration that takes them from tropical waters all the way to Antarctica. Remarkable high-definition footage follows these creatures and more to places human beings rarely see, capturing unique worlds populated by Mandarin ducks and birds of paradise, as well as a pride of lions and a vast caribou herd. Filled with
surprising facts and extraordinary images, Earth is a dazzling portrait of life on our planet.

Familys at home can help save the Polar Bears too:

Earth_Mission Polar Bea1. seek out information on conservation issues

2.spread the importance to others about wildlife and the wild.

3.reduce, reuse, recycle and replenish

4.look for and purchase enviromentally friendly products

5.support conservation organizations through contributions and volunteerisms

6. create habitats for wildlife in your backyard.

This movie is kindof like Planet Earth.  provides a great deal of information about the planet and the creatures that live on it.  There are scenes of animals attacking their pray, which made me worry if it was appropriate for my kids. it wasn’t to gory though, but it was still hard to explain to a three yr old.   There were beautiful scenes of waterfalls and landscapes, like I’ve never seem before.   This is a really great movie.

My thoughts: My children and I have been waiting to see this movie. We are big barbie fans, and have every movie, except Thumbelina.  It’s a great story about following your dreams, and not letting anything even gender stand in your way.   This has become my daughters new favorite behind Diamond Castle.  I absolutely loved the bloopers, it’s so funny  how they make animated characters mess up their lines.  This is a great movie and story line for any little girl.

Looney Tunes Eating right for kids

Warner Bros. consumer products and Safeway have teamed up to create a better for you line of food for children.  Bring flavor and nutrition together along with images of the Looney characters. The line includes breakfast, portable meals, diry, snacks, and beverages. Each product has characters ranging from Marvin the martian, Taz, Bugs Bunny and more.

Obesity is a growing problem among our children nationwide, which, if not addressed, can lead to severe health issues in adulthood.  As parents, teaching healthy eating habits and educating our children on how to choose to eat healthy is one of the best habits you can instill in your kids.

    o According to a 2009 study, almost 1 in 5 American 4-year-olds is obese – that’s more than half a million 4-year-olds.
o The number of overweight and obese children (10 to 17 years old) is at or above 30 percent in 30 states.
o Research has also shown that overweight and obese children generally go on to become obese adults, with all the chronic, weight-related health issues that involves, such as heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure.

My children love fruits, so i always make sure to have plenty. they are good for you and a lot better than other foods. My daughters do have a problem of asking for dessert after every meal, and I’ll admit that i cave in sometimes.  I try and teach them that if you eat all your good nutritious food, then you’ll get rewarded. i have changed the reward from cookies to yogurt.  They never complain!  What works best is to have no unhealthy food in the house.   I also try to mix some veggies into certain foods. like onions in to burgers, green beans into salad, plus i’ve been making a lot of pasta salad.  Its worked!
Looney Tunes Eat Right Kids Program is featured on Momlogic.comstarting August 24th and will feature an Eating Right blog from Haylie Pomroy to showcase healthy recipes, expert tips and the Looney Tunes Eating Right product recommendation to help moms save prep time when creating healthy menus and school lunches.

    Ocean Isle Beach stay

103_2136If you haven’t heard already, I visited Ocean Isle Beach and was a guest blogger at Ocean Isle Inn.  It was a long 4 hour drive but worth it.

The Room- I got a room with a ocean view, so beautiful. It comes with a fridge and microwave  which  is a plus having kids with me. plus they had a coffee maker, ironing board with iron, hair dryer and free wifi.   the room was very nice and had a beautiful ocean view.  you get a free complimentary breakfast too. The only complaint is the beds were a little high.

This is the view from my room

They have two pools for your enjoyment, a outdoor pool, with a deck that connects to the beach. It also has a outdoor shower so you can rise off sand. They have an indoor heated pool with a spa.  they are both very nice and relaxing.

the outdoor pool with an ocean view

We also had a chance to explore around, they have some great restaurants like The Giggling Mackerel, Cinellis pizza, and they also had a small food and ice cream parlor/arcade next too ocean isle inn. they have a recreation building next door, which also can give you access to the pier. We did not go on the peir though,  they charge a dollar for adults and fifty cents per child. I refused to pay to walk down a pier.

We loved staying at the Ocean Isle Inn, It’s a small hotel but very quiet an relaxing.  We visited Myrtle Beach during our stay, and i would have to say i would rather stay at Ocean Isle. no fighting crowds, quiet, relaxing. There is no lifeguard tower near by, so you swim at your own risk.

*** We watched this movie the minute we got it. My daughters only age 3 and 4 are big Hannah Montana fans.  They absolutely loved the movie. It was really funny, emotional, happy, sad all in one.  It’s mainly about a girls getting caught up in the royalty of being famous. Then finding her roots and self when she goes back home.  This movie was very enjoyable for even me.  There are a lot of exciting parts, but i don’t want to spoil it for those who have not yet seen it.   I do have one of her songs stuck in my head. the ho down. boom clap boom De clap De clap.

Billy Ray saddles up his iron horse to show us home viewers a firsthand account of the beauty a country town like Thompson’s Station Tennessee has to offer. But not everyone is from a small country town. Emily will show us what it’s like to grow up in the entertainment Mecca we like to call Hollywood. Perhaps it will inspire us all to find a little reason to brag of our own hailing?
    • Production 101: Jackson Style –Jason Earles is more than Miley’s big brother on TV. He is quite the accomplished actor. Here he will put his talents to use by interviewing cast & crew and giving us a true behind the scenes look at how this movie was made. My family and I got to experiance the fun and excitement of Build A Bear.   I have never been to Build A Bear before this  trip, and honestly i had it all wrong. My impression always was i’d spend at least $80 to $100 if i went in there.

I got to meet and chat with the assistant manager here at our Greensboro NC store Sarah

she said that a average person would spend about $30-$40 per visit. which is way off what i thought. That really surprised me.
