The Muppets Movie Review

I was recently invited to a screening of the new movie The Muppets, that hits theaters on Nov. 23rd.

First, let me say I love being able to screen the movie beforehand, but it can be a hassle. seats usually get taken up fast and there are a lot of people upset when they don’t get seats.

Before the movie started they had a short film “Toy Story Small Fry.”  I love the Toy Story movies and this one did not disappoint at all. Bonnie and her mother go to a fast food joint and they have Buzz lightyear toys in the kid’s meal. Well when small Buzz who is in the display case realizes he will never get played with he switches places with Buzz Lightyear (Bonnie brought him). it’s hilarious, Buzz finds a support group for lost and abandoned kid meal toys.

Now to the Muppets, It’s been so long since I have seen the Muppets on TV that a lot of the movie seemed very new to me. When Walter stumbles upon news that the Muppet theatre is going to be torn down, he tries to reunite the Muppets. Just finding where they all are at now, was funny.  Most of them never made it in show biz. Only two Muppets were really successful Gonzo who owns a plumbing biz and Miss Piggy who is a fashion editor in Paris.    Now I don’t want to give away to much of the movie, because it is a definite must see even for Adults. There is a lot of adult humor in this movie, but still appropriate for kids.    I was really surprised at how many celebrities are actually in this movie.  Just from what I can think of Whoopi Goldberg, Selena Gomez, Jack black, Zack Galifianakis, Emily Blunt and so much more.

My kids absolutely loved the movie, they laughed through most of the movie. My kids are young and have never seen a Muppet movie, so I am happy that they were able to see some of my favorite characters from when I was a kid.   One thing I was a little disappointed about was that Kermit and Miss Piggy were broken up. I don’t know if that was just part of the plot in this movie, or if that happened a long time ago. The story they have in this movie is, Miss Piggy got fed up when Kermit wouldn’t marry her, so she left. IN the ned it all works out though of course.   I am definitely going to have to go see this movie again, because there are a lot of things I didn’t catch (according to my husband).  One of my favorite parts though, I would have to say is the Muppet of a Man song. You have to see it!

As a family that loves Science, we loved this advertisement before the movie.

Disclosure: No compensation was received for this post, screening passes were provided by Disney for my review.

  1. I have seen a number of reviews for this movie and I like how you describe it. They were just on SNL this weekend is how I knew Kermit and Piggy were broke up- but goodness she has waited for 20 years 🙂
