Thinking About Post College Financial decisions

When my husband left the army and decided to go to college it was a big change on us, but luckily the military helped pay for his schooling. While he was in college we strategized and spent weeks deciding what are best graduate school choice would be.

Now my husband is just finishing up his second year of graduate school, and we are putting together our Post-grad/college financial plan.

Of course it is always a good idea to save up money when you are in college for after graduation.  Sometimes it’s not always possible, if you are trying to pay off loans and such.

Three things we really focus on:

Finding a job- before you graduate it’s good to start applying for jobs, whether it is a internship or post doc. You need to have something lined up for after graduation to ensure that you have money coming in.

Benefits: Do you have a family or are you single? If you have a family it’s a good idea to look into  benefits of a job or secondary school for your family. Also look at the cost of living in the area you are going to make sure you can afford it.

That was one of the big things for us when my husband was starting Grad school. We had 3 kids so, we had to look into cost of living and who offers free or discounted health insurance of every school.   Luckily we found a school that is the perfect fit for our family.

Debts: After you have determined where your life is going to go after college, and you have a income coming in to pay off your college loans. Well if you have any, College can rack up  a lot of debt on credit cards and loans. Plus you have to pay interest on that. It’s a great idea to set up payment plans or even if you can pay the whole thing off at once.

Going to college can be a life changing experience, but even after you graduate you still have many more decisions to make.

FrankenWeenie Movie Review

I am the biggest fan of Tim Burton, I love all his movies. They are not your normal happy movies, they usually have a dark side to them. My favorites so far are BeetleJuice, Edward Scissorhands, Corpse Bride and of course my all time favorite The Nightmare Before Christmas.

When I was invited to a screening of Frankenweenie I was really excited, even more than my kids. LOL! First off, let me say I was super impressed with the theater the screening was at. It was our first time there, but the seating was really comfortable. Plus they had tons of security and even checked everyone with a metal detector to make us feel safe.

The movie Frankenweenie is basically about a boy who loves science and his dog, but his parents want him to be like everyone else. They sign him up for baseball, which he is not into. After he hits a home run at a game, his dog runs after the ball and gets hit by a car.
he is devastated and comes up with a plan to bring him back to life, which works. A friend finds out and tells everyone. The whole town rallies against the science teacher for teaching the kids nonsense.
This was my husbands favorite part (he is a scientist). The science teacher says that everyone is ignorant and think that science is magic. when it is not.
After everything a few Classmates of Victor decided to bring their old animals back to life, but the animals become monsters and attack them. Sparky saves the day and dies again.
I am going to leave it at that, if you want to know the ending go see the movie.

I loved the movie, Tim Burton has made a masterpiece again. The movie is black and white, but is still worth seeing. Even the meaning behind the movie stood out. Trust me, like I said my husband is a scientist and was raving about the movie all night. How true it was that most of america thinks science is all magic and just want the latest and greatest gadgets, but don’t care about how they are made or what needs to happen to make them work. He also commented about the science teachers looks and how they fit. He said that most scientist are not personable and a bit scary. He immediately just started calling people stupid instead of answering questions.

Overall my family and I loved the movie and we will probably see it again in theaters.

Frankenweenie will be in theaters nationwide October 5, 2012

Disclosure: I was invited to a screening of the movie by Disney. No other compensation was received. All opinions are 100% my own.

Happy Birthday To Me

Yes, today is my birthday! I turn 28 years old, while I do feel accomplished in some things in my life in others I feel lost.

My biggest accomplishment in life would be my 3 beautiful children. Who I thought I would never have.

The things I feel lost about are complicated, It’s mainly my online work. I don’t want to get into to much detail.

So anyways Happy Birthday To me. LOL

The Most Important Meal Of the Day With Hormel #HormelFamily

Usually breakfast time consists of cereal and milk, we are so busy in the morning I never really have time to cook. Getting the kids ready for school, and hubby for work is exhausting. I always make sure that they do eat breakfast and eat enough, as breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

On the weekends though my husband and I cook breakfast for our family. We usually have eggs, bacon etc.   We love having our big breakfast morning with Hormel.

We were trying to follow a recipe we found on the Hormel website, but since I have picky kids we had to make breakfast on our own.

We made egg sandwiches with Hormel bacon and sausage

We also made and it was my favorite  a omelette with Hormel Cure 81 ham, cheese, and Peloponnese Peppers,  Paired With Hormel bacon.

Most important though we are having breakfast together, that’s what I love so much.

How often do you eat breakfast? whats your kids favorite breakfast?

Reading On The Kindle

They have made great improvements in technology. I love to read but I hate having the books cluttered around. I am also the kind of person where after I read a book I usually donate it, unless it is amazing.

Having a  Kindle makes it so much easier for me. I can download any book I want and don’t have to worry about clutter or what to do if the book isn’t good.

There is a big Variety of eBooks for the Kindle, I just stumbled upon a really good one called Savvy Auntie.

It’s a book about being the cool aunt, and loving kids without having kids of your own.   I am relating to this book, since I was an aunt long before I had kids and would go crazy over my nieces and nephews.   I would spend so much money and time on them and be the aunt that always wanted to spend time with.

I already have over 50 books on my kindle that I will be reading for the next year.
