Perfect Time To Have A Picnic On National Picnic day #HormelFamily

June 18, is National Picnic day it’s the perfect time to get your family out nd enjoy lunch outside.

It has been raining here constantly almost everyday for 2 weeks. Luckily it cleared up for 2 days so we could get out and enjoy the sunshine and have fun. We decided to make it a picnic and hiking day.

The best thing about a picnic is location, you want to find a place that has plenty of space for the kids to run around if they get tired. You also want to make sure there is a bathroom nearby.

Here are a few tips provided by Hormel as well as a video to help you with your perfect picnic.

  • If packing sandwiches, make sure to use heartier bread like a baguette as it will not get as soggy over long periods of time. Fill baguettes with slices of your favorite Hormel Natural Choice product and add-on tomatoes, lettuce and other condiments of your choosing.
  • Hormel party trays don’t have to be restricted to indoor gatherings; let them join in the party outside! Bring along your favorite tray to your picnic the Turkey and Cheddar or Supreme Party Tray. Bring along paper plates and utensils and let guests choose their favorites from the tray!
  • Veggies and dip are always great to bring along to your picnic. Try a delicious new Peloponnese® Mediterranean spread available in several different varieties including Artichoke, Hummus and Red Pepper and Cheese. Cut vegetables at home beforehand and store in plastic containers and keep in a cooler along with a dip of your choice!
We chose the best place on Long Island to have a picnic, at Caumsett State park. 1700 acres of running, walking etc. They have plenty of meadows, gardens and even a beach to find the perfect spot to picnic.

We just did the simple things like juice boxes, sandwiches with Hormel meat of course and some Chips. We even tried something new we got some french bread which we ut into little pieces and dipped it into Peloponnese red pepper and cheese dipping sauce.

We had all the fun picnic gear to go with it. My kids said it’s not a real picnic without a basket and blanket. LOL!

Will you be having a picnic on National picnic day? What will you be eating?

Finding Who A Was On The Pretty Little Liars

The season finale of Pretty Little Liars season 2 A was revealed and it was Mona. Most people guessed it, since that is how the book was written. I had read the book but still thought the show would be different. I originally assumed it would be Jenna, she seemed to have it out for the liars.

Now seeing the beginning of season 3 and previews, I am totally stumped at who it could be.

If you missed the second season or even the season finale, you can pick up the dvd now here.

There is only a few days left of the Pretty Little Lies game, Hurry and enter to win Heather Belle bags and signed dvd copies.

You can catch season 3 Of The Pretty Little liars on Tuesdays 8/7c on ABC Family.

Little Mommy Princess And The Potty Doll

Mattel’s Little Mommy line has come out with new dolls and products.  The Little Mommy Line features products from 3 of the most important events in a baby’s life, feeding, bathing and sleeping.

I was invited but could not attend an event in NYC all about the new line, and thought I would share some photos and highlights. Rosie Pope was there offering parenting and play tips.

Even though I did not attend the event, Mattel sent me a Little Mommy Doll. I received the Little Mommy Princess and the Potty Doll. I was a little grossed out at first, a doll that poops in the potty was just something I was not into. My daughters loved the thought of it. They made the doll sit on the potty every 5 minutes.

The doll does not speak herself, unless she is sitting on the potty or you flush the toilet by itself.  She comes with a hand sanitizer jar, and a sippy cup, but no worries the doll doesn’t really drink so no mess to clean up.

I think this would be a great toy for any little girl potty training. My daughter made a little video of her using the potty (the doll).

When you sit the doll on the potty, she sings and the potty actually makes sounds of poop dropping in the toilet. LOL! Away from the potty, she is still a cute little princess doll to play with. My daughter has reserved a spot on her bed for her new doll.

The Important Initiatives In My House #HormelFamily

I have been working with Hormel foods this year, and they have released their Corporate responsibility Report.  They have one so much this past year like reducing packaging on products or cutting sodium out of products.

They asked what are the important initiatives that take priority in my house, and how we choose companies to support.

Since I am a mother most of mt important initiatives revolve around my kids. One of the most important initiatives in my house is Education. I dropped out of college when I was pregnant and i don’t want my kids to ever give up on their education. We help them out with homework and read to them every night. My husband is even working on his PHD right now, and the kids love to hear about his experiments.

It’s also important that I feed my kids healthy foods, with so much sugar and other things in foods. I always try to get my kids to eat healthy and eat tons of fruit and veggies. I can rarely get them to drink water, but they will drink juice ( I always buy juice with no High Fructose Corn Syrup). They never drink really sugary drinks or soda.

When it comes to our Choosing and helping a company, we always have use the companies that touch our hearts. When we donate clothes and toys, we always drop them off in bins set up around town for Breast Cancer Help Inc.  Another company I have always supported and have donated what I can is St. Jude.  I have met some of the patients and they have really inspired me with how brave and strong they are.

What are the important initiatives in your home?
