The Holidays are gone but that doesn’t mean that you still can’t give back to the community.

My kids had school off yesterday for Martin Luther King day and we spent it by going through toys and setting some old toys aside to be donated to the Lupus foundation or the Breast Cancer foundation. Both have donation boxes and pick ups in our area.

Earlier this month we also sponsored a family, with the help of Pampers Diapers. It was a great experience for me, because I had all 3 of my kids in diapers at one point. So when my neighbor brought up a teacher in Queens that need diapers for her 4 younger children all in diapers, I jumped at the chance to help. I don’t remember the exact ages of her kids but know that she has 1 month old twins. So I asked Pampers if they would help and gladly accepted.

When the Pampers package arrived I was overwhelmed with joy, I actually cried.

She was so grateful and overjoyed to receive so much help!

It’s always great to give back to community and help out as much as you can.

Hormel Foods finds time each year to dedicate themselves to many different philanthropic efforts. In 2010, Hormel Foods gave $5.7 million in cash and in-kind donations toward efforts in communities where their employees live and efforts that help alleviate hunger.

Donations have been made to countless organizations including United Way of Greater Minnesota, Paul Hall Chicago Boy and Girls Club, and disaster relief funds throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa.

Hormel Foods makes many efforts to give to those in need. They currently run a program called “On Our Way to Ending Hunger,” where they collaborate with retailers, nonprofits and the government on hunger relief efforts to nourish the hungry in the United States and abroad.
