It was a Fancy Nancy dream

Yesterday we all bundled up and headed into New York City for a special event, a book reading and signing from Jane O’Conner. Jane is the author of the Fancy Nancy series, which my daughter absolutely loves.

Instantly my daughters started chatting away with Jane O’Conner.

I told her that McKenzie’s reading really took off when she found the Fancy Nancy series, which is the truth. she said you don’t know how much that means to me.

I even caught my daughter reading one of her Fancy Nancy books to Jane, it was so cute.

Jane O’Conner started reading her popular Christmas book, Fancy Nancy Splendiferous Christmas.  My kids loved every minute of the reading. She wasn’t just reading, she was explaining everything and acting it out.

Afterward they had books for sale and she she signed them.

Holiday Gift Guide: Scholastic Books

If there is one gift I love buying, it is books. They are educational and not sprawled all over my floor. My daughter brings home a Scholastic Book Club order every month and we choose books to order every month.

This month for our Christmas gifts we have ordered

My kids love character books mainly, and La La Loopsy is the newest character book added to our collection.  Most of the books I get from Scholastic are free, and it’s not from product reviews. Selected boxes of Kelloggs cereal have codes on them for Free Scholastic books.

** These books are so great, My kids get just as much enjoyment out of reading these books as they do watching the shows.  most book are 32 pages or less, so they are easy readers.   These make great stocking stuffers or gifts and are all under $10.   The greatest thing about ordering books from Scholastic is when you order online, your child’s class gets a free book.

Books retail for $1.00 or higher

My Baby is Growing Up

In Just 5 days my Son will be 4, I hate to see him grow up. He finally wanted to learn his ABC’s, Yes he is that stubborn. I have been trying for over a year and now he wanted to learn.

So we went to our local Library and checked out a book on ABC’s called Nascar Abc’s. He loves Cars, so I thought that would be perfect.

Well in one day this is how much he learned

He misses a couple letters, but he is learning. I am a proud Mommy!

Holiday Gift Guide: Big Book Of Science Experiments

This new book, with more than 100 experiments provided by Mad Science and step-by-step instructions, shows kids how simple experiments can help them better understand the world around them.
“Following the success of Super Science Book, we created Big Book of Science Experiments to offer kids a supplement to everything they love about science. Annual science fairs continue to grow in popularity. This book provides a myriad of ideas to bring science directly to your home,” said Bob Der, Editorial Director, TIME For Kids. “We filled the book with incredibly cool experiments for kids to explore in a fun, family friendly way.”

**** My husband is a scientist and is always trying to get my kids excited about science, They are so young though that it is hard to find an age appropriate experiment. Big Book of Science Experiments is full of fun and easy experiments you can try with the kids. One that my kids just loved is “Get Your Heart Pumping” you make a chart and then have your child
watch TV for 5 minutes, then record their temperature and heart rate. Play soccer for 5 minutes, then record temperature and heart rate, and last have them do jump top for 5 minutes, after you have written everything down. compare the different exercises. My kids were excited that the more they did the faster their heart would beat. Another fun one is Family resemblance, take a picture of everyone in your family then compare what people have in common. All my kids found out that they have daddy’s eyes and eyelashes.
This book has so many great experiments and information for small kids. My kids are determined to do every experiment in this book!
