Heckscher Park Egg Hunting 2014 #HuntingtonNY #Easter2014

Huntington will hold it’s annual Eggstravaganza on April 16, 2014 from 10AM-1PM. Bring the kids for fun, face painting, egg collecting, and so much more.
They do put a limit on how many eggs you can collect. Just to make sure everyone gets some.

You must register for this event beforehand at www.tohparks.com.
Registration begins March 20 at 9 AM, on a first come first serve basis.

We attend this event every year and it’s been so much fun for the kids, there are so many activities so participate in.

Don’t forget to bring a canned food to donate!

Being heart healthy has been so important to me, not only because it keeps you healthy. In my family alone we have had heart disease, it’s a scary thing to have to deal with.
It’s been very hard though especially after living in the south and getting use to eating a lot of fried food. We say this movie in theaters and it was amazing. Very educational for the kids and even teaches them to say the dinosaurs names. Every time a new dinosaur comes on screen the movie will pause and mention the name with how to say it correctly.

Based on the beloved best-selling book comes an “extremely moving” (Leonard Maltin, Indiewire) story of a girl who transforms the lives of those around her during World War II, Germany. When her mother can no longer care for her, Liesel (Sophie Nélisse) is adopted by a German couple (OSCAR Winner Geoffrey Rush and OSCAR Nominee Emily Watson). Although she arrives illiterate, Liesel is encouraged to learn to read by her adoptive father. When the couple then takes in Max (Ben Schnetzer), a Jew hiding from Hitler’s army, Liesel befriends him. Ultimately, words and imagination provide the friends with an escape from the events unfolding around them in this extraordinary, acclaimed film directed by Brian Percival (Downton Abbey).

The Book Thief is aimed at young adults as it does not display the full violence that was apart of WWII. It’s a great start for getting children prepared to learn about the horrors that happen at that time.

Winter Will Still Be Here Past Spring

This has been one of the worst winters so far since I have lived in Long Island. Granted that has only been 4 year, but still. We have had a lot of snow in prior years, probably more snow then we did this year.
The difference with this year has just been the cold weather. All the snow on the ground is frozen solid, and there is no indication of it melting any time soon.

Yes, we have has at least a week with temps over 40 and even today the temps are in the 60’s which is perfect. The big blocks of ice and snow are melting so slowly, I have a feeling they will be here until Spring.

This just won’t give me my driveway back.

It’s that big from constantly having the driveway plowed and frozen. LOL!

Not to mention the snow has been on the ground so long that is is black and just dirty and ugly.

Now that the snow on the sidewalks is slowly melting I am starting to find treasures. If only I could find money! LOL!

Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program *Last Week To Nominate*

Kohl’s Cares Scholarship program is in it’s last week for nominations. If you would like to nominate a child now is your chance.

Nominations are for kids ages 6 to 18 will be accepted up until March 14 at kohlskids.com, and nominators must be 21 years or older. Through the program, Kohl’s will award more than 2,300 young volunteers nearly $400,000 in scholarships and prizes to reward kids who have made a positive impact on their communities.

Two nominees from each of the more than 1,100 Kohl’s stores nationwide will win a $50 Kohl’s gift card.
Nearly 200 of the store winners will win regional scholarships worth $1,000 toward higher education.
Ten national winners will be awarded a total of $10,000 in scholarships for higher education, and Kohl’s will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on each national winner’s behalf.
