Products That Help with The New You

I am not big on exercise, not that I really don’t love it. It’s just that I have a bad back and am always in pain. I do try to eat healthy though!

Some of my favorite products that help you eat healthy are:

Cuisinart Pulp Control Citrus Juicer: Available at Best Buy for $29.99.  This is perfect if you love to have fresh juice with out all the added sugars and such.

I love this because I like fresh squeezed orange juice but hate the pulp.  If you love pulp or just like a little, it has 3 different control settings for your desire of consistency.  It also has a snap up spout to accommodate different size glasses.   This is a great product to help jump start your weightless for he new year.

KitchenAid- Ultra Power Tilt Head Stand Mixer: Available at Best Buy for $299.   Now this product doesn’t really help with weight loss per say, unless you could count making a vegetable puree.

I do love this product though, it mkes cooking so much easier.  It mixes everything for you without any work and it’s easy to clean up.   This is good for making your own breads or potatoes.

Both of these products are great items for a new me. I am trying to be better about making my own foods and getting away from all the harsh chemicals that are in foods today.

So if anyone in my life really pays attention, Stand Mixer (gift!!!)

What to Make with All Those Holiday Leftovers #HormelFamily

I have never been a big person on eating leftovers, but they have to get eaten. I always look to create new and great recipes with the leftovers.
This holiday season we had Ham galore.

We had a ham dinner for Christmas and another for New Years Eve dinner. We had leftovers both times.
The kids weren’t to thrilled about all the leftovers, so we made the next best thing for them. A big breakfast.

Valentine’s Day With Shutterfly Giveaway Closed

STATIONERYCARD_A2-24022-6575-MERCHTHUMB-v13505171190009514

Valentine’s Day is coming up and my kids have been wanting more personalized cards to give in class. My kids have always bought the character cards and then put their own touches to them. One year they added pictures, another year they made a picture on each card. They like that better than just a simple signing of the name.

This year we have decided to try out making our own personalized Valentine’s Day cards through Shutterfly. They want to personalize the cards with pictures and their own sayings, which is perfect since Shutterfly has so much going on.

  • More Designs! Over 50 new styles.
  • Fresh Color Stories and Artistic Typography
  • Sentiments that feel special and capture the spirit of the season!
  • Card sizes: 6×8, 5×7, 4×8, 5×5, 4×5

If your not interested in getting Valentine’s Day cards, Shutterfly has tons of other photo gifts. Two of my favorite photo gifts are:

Photo Mugs: Showcase your photos on your coffee mug at the office or at home.

2013 The Year Of Me

Every year I plan to lose weight and get better, but I never do. I always put everyone else ahead of me. This year I am trying my hardest to do everything for myself.

It’s very hard for me to do that, ever since I was a little girl I have always put everyone else ahead of myself. From having money to buy new clothes or fix my teeth. Letting mt hair grow down to my butt so someone else could use my hair etc.

Now that I am a Mother it has gotten worse, I rarely do anything for myself. Like if it came to me needing something comparing to my kids wanting something. My kids always win.

So this year, I am making myself better for me, my kids need me and I want to be able to play with them without losing my breath.

Photo on 1-14-13 at 10.15 AM

So this year: This is not a resolution, this is a goal.

My first priority is getting rid of Mirena, which I am scheduled to do this week. Then letting my hormones get back on balance.

I want to lose 30-40 lbs.

I want to get my teeth fixed, i need a lot of work done but never have the money.

get my acne under control, I swear I have the face of a 15 yr old.

These are my goals for 2013, what are yours?

Today is Milk Day

Today January 11, is National Milk Day.

Did you know that milk was delivered daily in the old days via cart and horse. The milk man would scoop up milk and place in your pitcher right in the street.
In 1878 when milk started being delivered in a steralized glass bottle, it was big news. They decided to commemorate the event by creating National Milk Day on January 11.
Today, milk has to stay chilled for it to be fresh, which makes it hard to have on the go. Now though, you can have single serving grade A milk that has a shelf life of 6 months. Perfect for on the go and lunch boxes. It’s part of the Milk Unleashed campaign, all about shelf safe milk.

We were introduced to different brands of Shelf milk and my kids love them. They are so excited about all the different flavors. Chocolate, strawberry, white chocolate and regular.

Scholastic Helps Schools after Hurricane Sandy

When Hurricane Sandy hit our area it was devastating. On my street it was not that bad, we had a lot of trees and wires down and lost power for 2 weeks. In other areas, homes, and schools were destroyed.

Scholastic wanted to do everything they could to help out the schools that were destroyed and lost their libraries.

Scholastic set up a book grant program in which schools in need could apply for the grant of a new library.

Anna Mae Stefanelli, principal of The OLC School, looks over books donated by children's book publisher Scholastic Inc. in Hillside, New Jersey

The time has come for the books to be donated and I have to say that Scholastic has been very generous in donating books. More than 100 schools in the NY/NJ/LI area were chosen and are receiving between 500-10,000 books each.

Students from the OLC School look over books donated by children's book publisher Scholastic Inc. in Jersey City, New Jersey

After this weeks pick up Scholastic will have donated more than 391,300 books.

For a full list of schools that were chosen please visit here.

I just love hearing about companies that help in a time of need.
