Little Girls and Music Boxes

I can remember having this beautiful glass music box when I was a little girl, it had birds on it and played music every time I opened it. I loved it, and would always hide my treasures in it.

Now that I am a mother, I want my daughters to have the same memories I did. So I have been on the lookout for a glass Music box, like I had. While looking around they have so many varieties available, Music boxes shaped like animals, and candy.
One of my favorites is a personalized Daughter I Love You Music box. It is so gorgeous and the perfect gift that will last a lifetime.

I think I will be moving Music Boxes for Christmas to #1 on my list this year.  I can’t wait for Christmas now, just looking at these music boxes.

How Much Is This Mom

Now that my daughter is in second grad, she has taken an interest in saving money. Right now she is saving up for a Game system or American Girl Doll.  She is learning the value of money in school, but will always come up and ask ” how much do I have now?”

We always put the change in separate piles, like pennies in one, nickels in another etc. It seems easier for her to count them that way. We tell her everything in this pile is 1 cent, so count by ones, 5 cents 10 cents and so on.

Even though I am teaching her the value of money, she still asks for crazy things or an allowance. So here are my tips for teaching kids about money.

Nothing is Free- At times I feel like my kids just expect everything to be handed to them, but the way my husband and I were raised was nothing is free. If you want money you have to earn it. We don’t do chore charts or demand anything be done. We expect them to do it on their own. If they clean up their toys, make their beds, etc. without being told to do so then they will be rewarded.

Plan ahead of time:  I use to be the shopper that would buy on impulse or go to the store hungry, and it always got me in trouble with my budget. So now when I get ready to shop, whether it is for school supplies or groceries I plan ahead. Always make a list of what you need and stick to it. Have all your coupons together and in order, and check circulars  for the best deals.

invest: I am always surprised at how smart my kids are at this age. They are so young, but have already started talking about what they want to be and going to college. We have brought up wanting to invest and save for their college funds. I don’t have a ton of money to put away for them, but we have interested them in a new way to spend their holiday money. We tell them instead of buying the new popular toy (which trust me we don’t need anymore of.) why not put in your piggy bank and save it.

They have actually gone along with this and am so proud of how well they are saving and earning.

Gift Guide: Servin’ Surprises Kitchen

Two things that I have on my list this year for Christmas, yes I am already planning for Christmas. LOL! I have a kitchen play set and a table/desk, so my kids can do homework and activities. The problem is that I live in a small apartment, so we don’t have a lot of room.

When I was at Blogher 12 this year I was invited to the Fisher Price Servin’ Surprises event. I was totally impressed with their new kitchen play set. It’s actually a 2-1 table.

First it’s a kitchen play set:

The Kitchen is so much fun for the kids. It has an oven, a stove top and even a magical serving tray that talks. My favorite thing as a mom about the kitchen is the storage. In the middle of the table there is a hole, where the dishes, cups and play food can be stored.

It’s a table:

The stove top can flip over and make the table a flat surface, to do crafts or whatever you please. and Oven can just slide out so it’s not in the way.

I also got to check out and play with the Birthday Cake set.

I love the birthday cake set. The candle actually has a little pretend light on the top. So you can pretend like you are blowing out the candle.  You can make vanilla cake or chocolate by just flipping the cake over. The play set also comes with a cake stand.

Servin’ Surprises Kitchen is available online at the Fisher Price shop for $80, but you can find on Amazon for $69

The Amazing World Of Gumball Season 1 DVD GiveawayClosed

One of my kids favorite shows is World of Gumball, they think it is hilarious. There are so many things about the show that give it a adult feel also.

The Amazing World of Gumball tells the story of an extra-ordinary suburban family who just happen to live in an ordinary town. Along with Gumball and Darwin there’s Dad, a 6’4” pink rabbit who stays at home while Mom works in the rainbow factory and Anais, a 4-year-old genius bunny. Gumball faces the trials and tribulations of any 12-year-old; like being chased by a rampaging T-Rex, having a robot steal his identity or dressing as a cheerleader to impress the girl of his dreams.

Everyone has to watch this show at least once, we love it.

I have a World of Gumball dvd to give to 1 US reader.

Cord blood banking: Its important role in saving lives

The cord blood is a real life saver. No one ever thought that the moment babies are born, they bring with them life-saving commodities that can be used for themselves or for other individuals. On the other hand, to effectively tap their life-saving potential, cord blood needs to be stored in reputable cord blood banks so that their rejuvenating properties can be preserved.

Cord blood is actually made up of stem cells that can be harvested and therefore used by donors to help treat a wide array of diseases or conditions that may arise from devastating injuries. At present, there are about 70 detrimental conditions that can be treated by the said blood. The long list includes different forms of cancers and Krabbe disease.

In terms of treating cancer, individuals who are affected by the “Big C” get their healthy cells damaged because chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and other medical procedures. When this happens, stem cells can be transfused into the body of patients so that the damaged cells can be rejuvenated by cord blood stem cells.

Krabbe Disease and other rare diseases can also be treated by cord blood transfusion. The said disease is detrimental condition that is developed during the infant years. If they are not treated within two years, they may cause nervous system breakdowns and even death.

Present-day researches confirm that the chances of survival of infants who receive cord blood transfusion in the early stages of Krabbe Disease are higher than those who do not receive the said medical support. On the other hand, it is important to remember that the disease should be detected so that nervous system functions will not be affected in any way.

Parents who will make a decision to bank their infant’s cord blood should take note the stem cells that it contains will be stored for their exclusive use. And the whole thing does not come for free.

It comes with high fees that need to be settled in a regular basis. On the other hand, it should be remembered that the benefits that can be attained from cord blood banking are simply endless and life sustaining.

First-timers should make arrangements with their physicians a months before giving birth because medical practitioners need to take care of several important matters. During the delivery stage, a small amount of cord blood will be harvested from the umbilical cord and then sent to the chosen storage facility for preservation purposes. It is a very straightforward procedure, but it is an essential investment that can help save lives.

Oraline Sanitizing system week 3

The Oraline sanitizing system and toothbrushes are still going strong in my house. Actually my kids are asking me to buy more of the brushes and toothpaste when we run out. I am actually a big fan of the toothpaste, it’s the only toothpaste I can get my 6 year old to use.

I have been using the Oraline Sanitizing system every other day to sanitize my kids toothbrushes.  I am really big on germs and try to keep the bathroom as clean as I can, but with 3 small kids thats impossible. The Sanitizer helps my kids toothbrushes stay clean and  them happy and healthy.

Oraline’s Sanitizer uses UV light and a drying fan to eliminate 99% of germs.

My son is starting preschool and will be bringing his own toothbrush, so i will be sanitizing it constantly. There are so many germs in school.

Don’t let the germ monster get your child sick, the Oraline sanitizer is the key.
