We got to review the new BackYardigans  DVD  Singing Sensation.  Its a sing a long with all your favorite songs from the nickjr cartoon.

My children love the BackYardigans and watch them everyday on nickelodeon. Even though the DVD is only 36 minutes long, It is jam-packed with fun.  My kids sang every song and danced the whole time.

Fabkins are good for little hands

fabkins are the perfect napkins you can use over and over again. We put a stack of napkins on the table and my children will go through the stack before the meal is over. It gets wasteful an exspensive.  So i got to try out fabkins, the perfect little napkins for kids.

i got to review three children’s DVDs that are wonderful learning resources.

Sid the Science Kid: Change Happens

In this movie Sid wants to know why things change. like his yellow banana turning brown, ice cream melting, shoes shrinking, and more. Sid and hid friends work together on some experiments and discover the effects of time, temperature and environment.

*We really like this movie and it was very informative as to why change happens. one of the common questions asked by my children everyday.   I think its a great show for introducing science to young children.

Sid the Science kid: The Bug Club

Sid hears a dog barking, and wonders if the dog id talking to him. At school he learns animals do communicate through body language and making sounds.  He also finds himself on a quest to find out why dirt is so dirty,  bees live in beehives, and ants live in anthills.

This DVD is jammed pack with exciting information about bugs, nature, animals and more. My kids got such a thrill learning about new animals and the way they communicate. Sid the Science Kid DVDs are really a great science experience for small children.

The friends start thinking the ship might not be haunted, but it’s still dangerous.  plus in another jam packed episode: Suzy the sea plane doesn’t listen to ranger the cowboy seahorse, because of his size. When Suzy gets tangled in the kelp forest, she learns good things can come in small packages.

* this moving is full of learning and we really enjoyed it. My kids loved being able to see under water world, and I loved all the valuable lessons it taught. learn from your mistakes,  don’t judge by a cover.  Great learning tool for my preschooler and tots.

Kai-lans aunt, Gu Nai Nai, invites her and her friends Rintoo, Ho Ho, Tolee to visit China and meet a baby panda!  On her trip she learns about Chinese culture and wildlife, plus her grandpa YeYe passes down some traditions.   she learns so much along the way and teaches new chinese words.

  When a super sunny day turns into a rainy day, Kai-lan thinks of ways to play in the rain, like jumping in puddles,sliding on lotus leaves, and more!

We really liked this DVD, my kids of course love Kai-lan and watch it on TV all the time. I love the new language skills, and how much children learn from watching this show. its very fulfilling and enjoying watching the kids get involved.

There is a fun site that can keep your kids entertained without having to worry about bug bites and sunburns.  Pocketvilleis a creative virtual world where kids can play games, decorate their own environment, and adopt “In My Pocket” virtual pets.  They can dress their pets, create an avatar,and meet new friends in a fun safe environment.  Plus it’s all FREE!

Pocketville was created by the makers of puppy In My Pocket, so you know it’s going to be fun and very safe.  all users are anonymous and no open chatting is permitted.

Pocketville is really a lot of fun, my children and I both loved it.  You can take your virtual pet(which i chose a chihuahua named Charo.  He is a small dog but she is big on being center of attention. She is a fashion hound and loves to be carried around in little purses.  Don’t worry if your not into chihuahuas they have lots of different animals to choose from. St.Bernard, poodles, pug, great dane, Dalmatian, and much more. Plus if your not a dog lover they have a scottish fold kitty, even a hippo, and they are even bringing a pony to pocketville.(not available yet.)

Someone I Love is Sick is a customizable tool to use when talking with children ages 2-6 years old about a parent or grandparent who has cancer. Pages can be selected to address the family’s specific situation including diagnosis, treatment, hospitalization, recurrence and, if need be, end of life.

 It addresses the unique learning capabilities and needs of very young children. They are sensitive to changes in their families, but their capacity for understanding and coping with these changes is limited by their attention span, language level, understanding of time sequencing and retention abilities.

 
Many young children learn well from being told or read stories, but the story must respect the specific developmental abilities of this age group. At the current time, there are no materials developed to help them understand and cope with the reality of a parent or grandparent with cancer. For a story to be most effective, it should be designed to be specific to that family, that child and that cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Someone I Love is Sickhas been developed in such a way that it can be adapted by parents, guardians or health care professionals to be used in many situations involving a parent or grandparent with cancer. The pages are loose-leaf, pre-printed pages of the many realities of cancer in the family, all at a pre-school level, with instructions for how to select the appropriate pages. Guidelines are provided so that parents or guardians using Someone I Love is Sick have the tools and the autonomy to help their own children.

I found this book to be genuine, and touching. my daughter is starting to ask about death since her grandmother died last year. although she go from cancer, the book still gives a good definition of what to expect for children. I was afraid my daughter wasn’t emotionally stable for this book, it made me cry. she did okay with it though.

    The new addition to the precious girls club(closed)

    The precious girls club has added a new book to their collection. It’s called Precious Girls Club Operation Kindness.  Katie Bennett and the Precious Girls Club want to cheer up the sad, lonely children who are sick, and have to stay in the hospital.

    They want to use their special talents to put on a puppet show, but MR. Boxer”President of the hospital” is not really interested.   With a little bit of help from her guardian angel, a club member “Lidia” and some faith, she is able to pull through and give a great show.

    I really love the Precious Girls club books, they have a great positive message. and my kids love to hear all about Katie’s adventures. Plus if you know me , you know I’m a precious moments fanatic!

    I was also given a mini paws plush dog. it’s so cute and cuddly.
