Reading On The Kindle

They have made great improvements in technology. I love to read but I hate having the books cluttered around. I am also the kind of person where after I read a book I usually donate it, unless it is amazing.

Having a  Kindle makes it so much easier for me. I can download any book I want and don’t have to worry about clutter or what to do if the book isn’t good.

There is a big Variety of eBooks for the Kindle, I just stumbled upon a really good one called Savvy Auntie.

It’s a book about being the cool aunt, and loving kids without having kids of your own.   I am relating to this book, since I was an aunt long before I had kids and would go crazy over my nieces and nephews.   I would spend so much money and time on them and be the aunt that always wanted to spend time with.

I already have over 50 books on my kindle that I will be reading for the next year.

How to Install Multiple Child Safety Seats in a Car

Car seats play an important safety role in modern vehicles. Since a vehicle’s seats are usually designed for adults, safety belts and airbags can be a hazard for children under the age of 12. While car seats can be a great tool for proper vehicle safety, it can be difficult to install them correctly. The following guide provides simple tips and tricks on how to safely install multiple car seats in a vehicle.
It’s important to understand how car seats work. Since a child is significantly smaller than an adult, many children will not be properly restrained in a traditional seat belt. In the event of an accident, a child can be severely injured or killed by a traditional safety belt. Several National Transportation and Safety Board (NTSB) accident review studies have shown that children will often slip out of a regular seat belt during an accident.

Child car seats are designed to secure a child in the event of an accident. Since child safety seats are designed to fit around a child, a child in a proper safety seat will be at a reduced risk of an accident.

However, it’s essential to make sure that car seats are installed in the proper ways. If a child isn’t buckled into a properly-placed car seat, he or she can be at an increased risk of injury in an accident.

It’s essential to make sure that one follows all instructions when placing a child in a car seat. In most cases, child seats are designed to face the rear of a vehicle. In the event of a front-end collision, children will be propelled into the back of their seat. This reduces the risk of injuries from seat belt attachments and straps. However, it can increase the risk of injury in a rear-end collision.

One should never place a car seat in the front of a vehicle. In many cases, an air bag can cause significant damage to a child in a car seat. Since air bags are designed to cushion a crash for an adult, they can’t provide good protection for a child in a specialized seat. Several accident reports have shown that air bags can actually kill a child if he or she is in a car seat. To avoid these types of problems, it’s a good idea to make sure that a child set is set up in the rear of a vehicle.

If a vehicle doesn’t have rear seats, it may be possible to set up a child seat in the front of the vehicle by following certain precautions. Some modern vehicles allow an individual to turn off the passenger air bag. However, it’s essential to make sure that one remembers to turn it back on when the seat is occupied by an adult.

Child safety seats play a critical role in preventing injuries during a vehicle accident. While child safety seats can be a valuable tool for many parents, it’s essential to make sure that seats are adjusted in the proper way.

Cord blood banking: Its important role in saving lives

The cord blood is a real life saver. No one ever thought that the moment babies are born, they bring with them life-saving commodities that can be used for themselves or for other individuals. On the other hand, to effectively tap their life-saving potential, cord blood needs to be stored in reputable cord blood banks so that their rejuvenating properties can be preserved.

Cord blood is actually made up of stem cells that can be harvested and therefore used by donors to help treat a wide array of diseases or conditions that may arise from devastating injuries. At present, there are about 70 detrimental conditions that can be treated by the said blood. The long list includes different forms of cancers and Krabbe disease.

In terms of treating cancer, individuals who are affected by the “Big C” get their healthy cells damaged because chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and other medical procedures. When this happens, stem cells can be transfused into the body of patients so that the damaged cells can be rejuvenated by cord blood stem cells.

Krabbe Disease and other rare diseases can also be treated by cord blood transfusion. The said disease is detrimental condition that is developed during the infant years. If they are not treated within two years, they may cause nervous system breakdowns and even death.

Present-day researches confirm that the chances of survival of infants who receive cord blood transfusion in the early stages of Krabbe Disease are higher than those who do not receive the said medical support. On the other hand, it is important to remember that the disease should be detected so that nervous system functions will not be affected in any way.

Parents who will make a decision to bank their infant’s cord blood should take note the stem cells that it contains will be stored for their exclusive use. And the whole thing does not come for free.

It comes with high fees that need to be settled in a regular basis. On the other hand, it should be remembered that the benefits that can be attained from cord blood banking are simply endless and life sustaining.

First-timers should make arrangements with their physicians a months before giving birth because medical practitioners need to take care of several important matters. During the delivery stage, a small amount of cord blood will be harvested from the umbilical cord and then sent to the chosen storage facility for preservation purposes. It is a very straightforward procedure, but it is an essential investment that can help save lives.

Power A Bright Future With Clorox

School is only 9 days away, and I have been buying back to school supplies. Every year it seems like the school supply lists get bigger, due to budget limitations.  It makes it really hard to get everything you need and help donate to the school.

Clorox is sponsoring Power A Bright Future once again this year. Nominate a new or existing K-12 school program by visiting www.PowerABrightFuture.com, choosing the category that best represents your idea (Play, Create or Explore), uploading a photo and submitting a short summary of how the grant would make a difference.

Looking To Buy Life Insurance

Now that I am getting older, I start to worry about what will happen to my children if something were to happen to me. So my husband and I have been looking into LIfe Insurance.

When I was younger I had a friend who lost both her parents, and she went into foster care because no one could afford to take her in. It was a horrible tragedy, but a lesson learned to families with small children. Anything can happen, so you should always be prepared.

It’s the best decision for all of us, in case anything ever happens. We really did a lot of research and there are so many companies offering, it was a hard decision.  We found a site called Mozdex.com, It’s a resource for people interested in Life Insurance.  They give you instant quotes from all the leading Life Insurance companies using a quote engine.

Starting the Conversations With My Daughter about Periods

My daughter has yet to start her period, but I know it won’t be that far away. I started early, so I know she will too. We have already started talking about periods and babies and everything that comes the maturity talk. My daughter has become interested to know, thanks to reality shows she has watched.

The easiest time to talk to her is when we are alone. Her brother and sister always make sounds and giggles that embarrass her.  Every one has said they think she i still to young to understand, after all she is only 7 1/2, but she is very smart. She is actually coming to me with things she is learning herself either from books or TV.

Now when I have to start the conversation with my middle daughter I am a bit nervous. She is more shy and reserved.   So when the conversation starts with her I think I will just take her one on one and start the conversation out slow.

I think you can tell when your child is ready when they start to ask questions about anatomy, getting breasts, sex etc.

They actually have books to help too, like The Period Book.   I know when I was younger it was easier for me to figure everything out on my own. My mom was kind of embarrassing.  I would ask her after I already had the facts to get her opinion on things.

To get girls ready for their period, Kotex has come out with a whole new line U by  Kotex Tween. the perfect thin pad with wings, that protects but won’t make your daughter feel bulky.

If you are having trouble talking to your tween about periods Kotex Tween has also set up helpful tips and videos, for you to get the talks started called Hello Period.

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a Brand Ambassador Campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of U by Kotex Tween and received products to facilitate my post and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Get All The Technology You Need For Back To School Gift Card GiveawayClosed

This year I am the only one in the family not in school. I have a preschooler, 1st grader, 2nd grader and college student (husband).
my kids actually use technology more than I thought they would need to at their age. My daughter was assigned a biography project and she was on the computer looking up everything and printing it out.

My husband on the other hand uses everything since he is in graduate school. It’s hard to keep up with the demand of everything he needs. Laptops, printers and so much more. I always look at Walmart for everything I need to buy they have great prices. Just the other day I was looking into a HP e-all in one printer. It’s the one piece of technology we really need. You can print from your laptop, smartphone, or tablet from anywhere.
Plus they now have HP XL ink cartridges, which can give you 40% more ink before you have to refill.

I also looked into the their laptops they have a huge variety including the HP Pavillion Dv-6 Notebook, which has all the basic neccessities would need for school.  It comes with a webcam and Microsoft Word starter 2010, 2 main essentials for school. 8GB and it reads and writes CDs and DVDs.   This would be great to have on hand for the kids school projects.

I did a little video of all the Hp technology at my local Walmart.

To get you geared up for back to school I am giving away a $25 Walmart gift card to a lucky US reader.

To enter: Tell me the one piece of technology you could use for back to school?

Oraline Kids Toothbrush Sanitizer Week 2

I have been using the Oraline Kids Toothbrush Sanitizer with toothbrushes for 2 weeks now, and I am really enjoying it. I hate how dirty the tooth brushes get from the kids and there are alway little pieces of toothpaste still in the brush.

With the sanitizer it gets rid of the all the germs. It doesn’t take that long either, the uv light was on for 10 minutes than the fan comes on for 2 hours. After the sanitation the brushes come out clean, but I did notice they had a weird smell, not to bad though. It went away after a couple hours.
Our first toothbrush we used fell apart only a few days after use. The bristles started falling out when mu daughter brushed her teeth. I don’t know if it’s just the brush, or my daughter is just using it to hard.

This has actually made my bathroom more organized for my kids. Now when it’s time to brush their teeth, they just open the sanitizer and get their brush instead of it laying on the counter. Plus it is a lot more sanitary too.
