Sharing The Amazing World With Your Kids Closed

My daughter loves to play games, thats all she wants to all day. Between video games and the iPad she will go back and forth between games. Sometimes how much she plays actualy worries me, and I have to cut her off. If It’s a educational game, than I am a little more accepting to the game.  Besides learning it has to be a game that gets her thinking hard, not just all fun.

PLaying games might not be all that bad though…
according to USA Today, “todays gamer may be tomorrows surgeon”.

one of the games that I have been accepting to my daughter playing is AmazingWorldGame. Amazing World has play and patterns kids love! kids can chat with friends, care for their Zings and complete missions. You can also customize your home and collect prizes in a controlled environment.

** Zings are lovable and energetic creatures, Zings can be named, customized and put to challenges by hosts.

I really love the bright colors in this game, it makes it more interesting for small children.  The Zing’s are so adorable, they kind of look like zoo animals.   You can start out by building your house and customizing it the way you like. You can decorate your house, lake by adding bushes and windmills so much more.. My favorite part of the game though would be the mission mode, just traveling through the levels. It is a little hard to do all the controls on the computer, but I am getting use to it.

Playing Amazing World is free, all you have to do is choose the free-to-play option and choose a generic Zing at Amazing World. When you register a plush toy or figure, you can bring your characters to life. You also get exclusive prizes.

Amazing world id so much fun bringing 3D colorful virtual world, by Ganz studios. Players can learn, create and make friends, in a world like never before.

To get you all geared up for the game?

Scholastic’s E-reading with Storia #escholastic

Scholastic just launched a new e-reading app called Storia. The online app is available for free on the PC and iPad, and they even start you off with 5 free books to read.

4 great ways to use Storia:

  • To assist a multilingual child or late reader
  • As a motivator for reluctant readers
  • As a personal tutor
  • to get your kids to beg for more non-fiction
I love this app, it is so much fun for my daughter. When you are reading books a lightning bolt will appear, and when you tap it a mini game will appear. The kids are having so much fun, they don’t even realize that they are learning.  This year our school started half day Kindergarten, so I feel like she is behind specially in reading. Storia is a great way to get her started as it reads to her and help her sound out words.
The app is even good for classrooms, as teachers can track how much their students are reading.

I learned so much about Storia and all the features at the Scholastic event during Blogher 12 this year.

Brooklyn Grange Farm #Backtonaturemac

I recently was invited to visit the Brooklyn Grange Farm. When I first heard about Rooftop farm I thought, okay a bunch of plants in pots on a roof. I was totally wrong, they actually turned the whole roof into a farm. They mainly grow vegetables and the only animals they have are chickens, but it was really cool.

There is also a beautiful view from the farm.

I brought my kids along for the fun and was so impressed, they were trying all kinds of veggies.  They tried two different types of Kale, cucumbers tomatoes and so much more.

They also served us dinner, and since the event was held by Back To Nature we got to try their yummy Crazy Bugs macaroni.

To visit the farm or find out more information visit here.

Tail Town Friends Is So Much Fun With GiveawayClosed

I usually use computer games as a way to relax and calm down at the end of the day, it just seems relaxing for me. It has to be a simp game though, not something that is competitive or confusing.

Tail Town Friends is the fun new game similar to Farmville. Tail Towns Friends is the free to play Facebook game, about a mouse with big dreams about having his own farm/orchard. Friends and players can help each other out with energy and sharing to make your country dreams come true.

I jus started playing this game today and it was very easy and fun. First you have a series of goals to accomplish, like clearing out an orchard to earn enough acorns to buy it. Once you own it you can buy crops, decorations, houses and so much more to save Greenwood from the big business taking all the fruit away. You do run out of energy fast, but can purchase more with Facebook credits or ask your friends to share theirs. The photo-realistic graphics and beauty of the game are what makes it so much fun, not to mention the drama and juicy soap opera like story lines.

I am only on level two but am already starting to become a little addicted to this game, once you start it’s hard to stop. I want to reach all th goals and collect the figurines. The figurines you buy and they come with a secret code that can unlock the figure on Facebook.
Once the figurine unlocks, you can complete their stories and unlock decorations and more. There are 12 figurines total, but they will be releasing later this year. The figurines are custom-designed polystone figurines, that are hand painted and have beautiful detail.

This is actually one of the Facebook games I would let my kids play and have fun with. It is simple for a kid and something they would enjoy.

To get you interested in playing the game, I am giving away one of the Figurines. The Ballerina figurine is so beautiful, whose tune will she dance too? She is the first set of figurines to be released. To see what other figurines will be released you can visit here.

To enter the contest, You must DESCRIBE your ‘dream garden’ or ‘country getaway’ in a tweet using the HASHTAG #TailTowns. Then come here and leave the link telling me you did.

Talking To Your Kids About The Aurora Tragedy

This has been a crazy and tragic week, A gunman opened fire at a movie theater and killed 12 people. Dozens more were wounded physically and mentally.

My kids have seen the news about it and have been asking so many questions. It’s okay to talk to your kids about what happened.

LeVar Burton, host of Reading Rainbow, believes that parents should never shield away from tough subjects, as our focus are children.  The Aurora violence was beyond our imagination.   Reading Rainbow is much more than a television show or an APP, it is a beloved and trusted channel for us to speak to people and it is our responsibility to reach children in these powerful and terrifying times.  LeVar’s message gives families a sense of calm helping us all believe that “we can get through this.”

Levar wrote this video to help parents to talk to kids about the tragedy.
