My First Hockey Game

We went to my first hockey game ever. Well it the kids and I first hockey game, my husband has been to plenty. It was for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers here in Connecticut.

The reason we decided to go was my daughter and school singing club were singing the national anthem. They did a great job and the game was very interesting.

The stadium was fairly empty and so my husband said lets sit a little closer. I did and was covering my eyes constantly. How can people watch other people get slammed into the wall like that. It didn’t bother me seeing it on TV, or even from a far distance. When I moved up close it just made me cringe, but I guess most hockey players are use to it. Here are some pics from the game.

Don’t forget to check out the school singing at the top of the page.

It was definitely fun and something I hope to do again.

Have you ever been to a hockey game?

Jurassic World is now available on Blu-ray.

Screen Shot 2015-10-02 at 8.08.15 PM

We just watched the movie for the first time, never got to see it in theaters. It was so intense, I was hanging off my seat watching. There are a few scary and gory parts, but all in all it s a great family film. I love how they showed human and dinosaur interaction, even though they may not have been as friendly in real life. It was still a good plot to the movie.
I have to say that I was a little disappointed with DR. WU’s character, he was famous for being the doctor who started it all. I seriously thought he would be more on team Jurassic, but they actually made him out to be a bad guy this time around.
One of my favorite parts besides the human companionship was at the end. The unexpected dinosaur that ended Indominous Rex’s reign of terror. Want to know which one? Well you have to watch and see.

I am giving you the chance. One of my readers will win a copy of Jurassic World on Blu-ray.

Stinger All Natural Mosquito Repellent Lantern Review

Disclosure: No formal compensation was received, a product was provided for review.

Summer is still here and so are the Mosquitos. We live in a very shaded place, there are trees all around and that keeps a lot of standing water and mosquitos. My kids will go outside just for a hour and come back in with multiple mosquito bites. I spray repellent on them but they still seem to get bit. In addition to spraying repellent on them I also wanted to do a lantern, just to have double protection.

Screen Shot 2015-09-02 at 10.49.05 AM

Made with ALL NATURAL active ingredients, the Stinger Mosquito Repellent Lantern lets you enjoy your time outside with powerful mosquito protection that’s DEET-free and safe around family and pets. The blue lantern can be used hanging or on the tabletop, making it perfect for the patio and deck, or any outdoor space. Using fan-dispersion technology to repel mosquitoes within a 15-foot radius, the repellent lantern will give you more protection for backyard fun this season.

ALL NATURAL active ingredients
DEET-free, safe for use around children and pets
Perfect for patio and deck – up to 15’ x 15’ area
Repels up to 12 hrs. – 3X longer than most competitors
Decorative, blue lantern design
Lantern-only mode option
Includes: Mosquito repellent pad and 4 “AA” batteries

I love this lantern, not only is it stylish, but it helps. Although it seems to work better the closer you are to the lantern. I use this whenever I am outside grilling or my children are playing in the yard.

You can find Stinger All Natural Mosquito Repellent Lantern at retailers nationwide and Stinger.com for $9.99.

Keeping Kids Safe This Summer #SummerSafety

DSCN0704

I have three kids at home all summer and for the last few years I have been to the doctor and emergency room so many times for accidents. I try to protect them the best I can but they are kids and want to have fun. Most of the accidents have been unavoidable, from playing sports or just being a kid.

I have already made one major trip to the ER this year when my daughter broke her thumb riding her bike. Other than that one major accident there has been scratches, cuts, burns, and smashed fingers.

DSCN0590

It really has me thinking about supplemental insurance for my family, you never know how handy it can be.
Supplemental insurance is a important part of health care, especially for todays workers who have not accepted that they have been diagnosed with a serious illness.
Helps save money from out of pocket expenses that most major insurance companies won’t pay due to illness, cancer and more.
Most policies will also have options to help you with your everyday expenses like groceries, childcare and lodging. You can ask your employer about these plans.

We still have over a month of summer vacation left and tons of activities so I am going through tips to help keep my kids safe.

1.Safety Gear- when riding a bike, roller skating, or playing sports, always make sure your child has the appropriate gear on. Helmets, pads, mouth guards, and gloves, they may seem like a pain, but they are there to keep your child safe.

2.Practice- Make sure your child has been practicing their sport or activity instead of just going at it. This will reduce the chances of injury. Also make sure they drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.

3. Body Aches- Parents should teach their child that if they are feeling tired, or any part of their body hurts it’s okay to stop. Pushing through when tired or having a injury will only hurt them worse. It’s okay to take a break.

DSCN1050

4.Apply Apply Apply- We live near the beach so there is always 2 things we need. Sunscreen and bug spray. The beach is nice during the day but the sun can be brutal and sunscreen helps there skin stay beautiful. At night though the mosquitos come out everywhere. My kids are bit everywhere, so we always have bug spray and cream. West Nile Virus is around and even confirmed in our area. Always have spray or lanterns when out at night.

5. Always watch your kids around water, roads, pools, and trails. Please watch your kids this summer, I know that text message or email seems important but it’s not.

Accidents happen specially with kids around, make sure you’re prepared with supplemental insurance like Aflac’s accident policy to help cover out-of-pocket expenses.

Science Fair Fun

For the past two years my daughters have taken part in the school science fair. The love it and get to experiment like their dad does everyday.

All their friends say that their science projects are good because their dad is a scientist. Thats not true at all, we strongly believe that they need to do the work on their own to achieve and learn. So the only thing I ever help with are ideas and pictures, The rest is all them.
