Happy Easter to all my readers.
We had such a fun family day together,
How did you celebrate Easter?
Being a mother is hard no doubt, but when it comes to making sure you can provide for your kids it’s the world.
I usually don’t write anything to personal on my blog, but this topic I am sure a lot of people can relate to.
My husband is a graduate student and that leaves us on a strict budget every month for bills and groceries. It’s hard and I spend as much time as I can clipping coupons and trying to save money everywhere.
This morning I went grocery shopping and just wanted to throw up in the store and cry. I couldn’t believe how much prices have gone up on things that we use everyday.
A gallon of milk 2 weeks ago was $3.99 today the price was $4.19. The soy milk I have to buy for my husband and son (lactose allergies) was $3.69 for a quart now $4.99. I now that is not that big of a jump but still when you are on a strict budget, it’s enough to make you sick.
Not to mention there have been very few deals on meats and seafood.
How does this government expect us all to survive?
Do you ever get that way?
Caught your attention? Good. The embarrassing will come in a while. LOL!
When my kids were younger we bought them bikes, but when they outgrew the little ones we never had money to buy new ones. Although my son has one, but he bought it with his own birthday money.
So it has been about 2 years since my oldest has peddled a bike. My middle daughter doesn’t know how to ride a bike. It made me feel really bad since she will be turning eight next month.
So I finally caved in and went out and bought them bikes. My daughter is still having a little trouble learning, but she is getting there with training wheels of course. Baby steps. (So some pics of them riding around).
I myself have not peddled a bike in over 10 years, and I have always been small enough to fit in the kids ride on cars etc. So I thought what the heck. Let me see if I can ride my daughters 20″ bike.
Little did I know that while I was trying she grabbed my camera and started filming. I feel like such a dope, it was so much work for me. She told me I have to post the video on my blog. So what the heck, I don’t embarrass easy.
But Please be nice in the comment section.
Our local Library is having health week. The classes and seminars have been great.
For our Kindertales class, they brought in the company iEat Green. She talked to us about healthy eating, and buying organic etc.
She showed us how to make Vegetarian Sushi rolls. This was my first time ever making Sushi , and eating it. I don’t like raw fish, but the vegetarian was actually very good.
I liked it. It’s made with tofu, carrots, onions, and rice. My son did not like it unfortunately.
We have had signs of Spring here for over a week. It has been beautiful and sunny. We finally had all the snow from the winter melt. Even the gigantic block of ice that has taken over my driveway finally melted.
Now this morning on March 31 I wake up to what looked like hail or a bit of sleet. Didn’t think much of it. Well then after a hour, I took the kids to the bus and this…..
2 hours after that most of it was gone.
Now it is beautiful and sunny, can’t wait until tomorrow with 60 degree weather.
Global Warming is real.

This show is so much fun, plus you get to enjoy the beach while the show is happening. Only thing I can suggest about the show is to get there early. It gets crowded fast.

Huntington will hold it’s annual Eggstravaganza on April 16, 2014 from 10AM-1PM. Bring the kids for fun, face painting, egg collecting, and so much more.
They do put a limit on how many eggs you can collect. Just to make sure everyone gets some.
You must register for this event beforehand at www.tohparks.com.
Registration begins March 20 at 9 AM, on a first come first serve basis.
We attend this event every year and it’s been so much fun for the kids, there are so many activities so participate in.
Don’t forget to bring a canned food to donate!
Some of last years fun:
This has been one of the worst winters so far since I have lived in Long Island. Granted that has only been 4 year, but still. We have had a lot of snow in prior years, probably more snow then we did this year.
The difference with this year has just been the cold weather. All the snow on the ground is frozen solid, and there is no indication of it melting any time soon.
Yes, we have has at least a week with temps over 40 and even today the temps are in the 60’s which is perfect. The big blocks of ice and snow are melting so slowly, I have a feeling they will be here until Spring.
This just won’t give me my driveway back.
It’s that big from constantly having the driveway plowed and frozen. LOL!
Not to mention the snow has been on the ground so long that is is black and just dirty and ugly.
Now that the snow on the sidewalks is slowly melting I am starting to find treasures. If only I could find money! LOL!
Do you still have snow on the ground where you are?
