Press Release – Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment today announced that it will launch director James Cameron’s history-making motion picture AVATAR on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on Thursday, April 22.

AVATAR on Blu-ray presents the ultimate high definition experience for home viewing audiences. Fans around the world will soon be able to discover every detail and relive every moment of James Cameron’s AVATAR in the comfort of their own home. Blu-ray is recognized for presenting optimal picture and sound, and now AVATAR’s masterful cinematography, art direction and visual effects will lend itself to awe-inspiring clarity when you become absorbed in the extraordinary all-encompassing experience in the living room.

Since its global theatrical release last December, AVATAR has continued to make motion picture history. Written by James Cameron and produced with his long-time collaborator Jon Landau, AVATAR stars Sam Worthington, Zoë Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Wes Studi and Laz Alonso.

Alvin and the Chipmunks The Squeakuel DVD Review & Giveaway4/4

Product Description: When a concert mishap lands Dave in the hospital, the Chipmunks take a break from superstardom and enroll in school to fit in with kids their age.  But they soon face some stiff competition when they meet the Chipettes — a beautiful, talented trio of chipmunks discovered by Ian, the boys’ evil ex-manager!

****My kids loved this movie!  It didn’t seem as funny as the first one, but it was still really good. The boys start school after Dave gets hurt and all the girls love them. The boys get jealous and start playing tricks on them including giving Simon a swirly.  The Chipettes meet with Ian and then faceoff with the Chipmunks in a Singing competition. Alvin never shows up so the Chipettes win.  They come together at the end and become one big family!  My daughters loved when the Chipettes sand Single Ladies. My favorite part was when Ian comes out and pretends to be the Chipettes with puppets, so funny.

*****The Princess and The Frog is a lot different than any other Disney Princess movie, Not just the fact that this is the first African-American Princess. The setting for the movie is based on real life, no big castle on a hill in the middle of nowhere. My kids actually were a little scared watching this movie. The villain is really portrayed as evil and scary.  It has a lot of adventure and ia a great movie for kids over the age of 4 or 5.

Prima Princessa Presents Swan Lake DVD review

Product Description: Put your dancing shoes on, and enjoy the show! Prima Princessa features the world-renowned Paris Opera Ballet performing excerpts from Swan Lake, narrated by the adorable Prima Princessa, herself! Between acts Prima Princessa guides you through ballet steps performed by School of American Ballet students so you can become a Prima Princessa ballerina too!

****My daughters were really excited about this movie as they want to be dancers/ballerinas. Watching The Paris Ballet perform Swan Lake was exciting, but the student excerpts were a little fast and confusing. My girls couldn’t keep up with the dvd, which was a little upsetting. It was fun to watch though, and made my daughters even more interested in ballet.

Disney’s Old Dogs DVD/Blu-Ray Review

OldDogs3DiscComboPackBluray.jpg

Description:John Travolta and Robin Williams star in Old Dogs, the hilarious family comedy that will have you howling. Two best friends have their lives turned upside down when they’re unexpectedly charged with the care of seven-year-old twins while on the verge of the biggest business deal of their lives. The clueless bachelors stumble in their efforts to take care of the children, leading to one debacle after another, with a gorilla and some pecking penguins — and perhaps to a newfound understanding of what’s really important in life. Featuring a riotously funny supporting cast including Seth Green, Kelly Preston, Matt Dillon and Lori Laughlin, Old Dogs is a laugh-a-minute comedy filled with heart.

Bonus Features:

  • Bloopers and deleted scenes
  • Audio commentary
  • Every little step- music video by John and Ella Bleu Travolta

Bonus on Blu -ray

  • you’ve been a friend to me-music video
  • Young dogs learn old tricks

****I didn’t think that this movie would be that funny, but it is, It has it’s boring parts too. The gorilla enclosure scene is hilarious, and i think Seth Green did a great job in that part. I also liked when Robin Williams and Kelly Preston were having dinner and he totally has the wrong idea of the conversation, just to be hit with a bomb shell.  I really like that me and hubby can enjoy a funny movie without having to worry about the kids walking around the corner and seeing or hearing  something inappropriate. This movie is for the whole family and is only rated PG.

Disney’s Ponyo DVD/Blu-ray Review

Synopsis:
Walking on the beach near his home, a five-year old boy named Sosuke (voiced by Frankie Jonas) finds a beautiful goldfish trapped in a bottle. He releases the tiny creature and, sure that she is no ordinary fish, names his new friend Ponyo (Noah Lindsey Cyrus). As Ponyo and Sosuke grow closer, she reveals to him that she is the daughter of a powerful wizard (Liam Neeson) and a sea goddess (Cate Blanchette), and magically transforms herself into a real human girl. But by crossing from her watery world onto land, Ponyo has created a dangerous imbalance in nature. As the moon begins to draw closer to the earth, sea levels rise and a giant tsunami threatens to destroy Sosuke’s home. Ponyo’s father marshals all his might to find his missing daughter, as the two children embark on an adventure of a lifetime to try and save the world.

Bonus features(on Blu-ray disc):

  • The world of Ghibli
  • Meet Ponyo
  • Storyboard presentation of the movie

****I never heard of Ponyo before receiving this dvd, but I thought it would be a great way to introduce my kids to something new.  The beginning was a little slow and hard to understand, but then came together. A boy catches a goldfish and then looses it, while the fish is magic she decides to become human  to befriend the little boy.  Her turning into a human sends the ocean off-balance and a huge storm starts, with a major Tsunami,  Panyo starts to get sick, and goes back into the ocean. Where everything goes back to normal. and Ponyo gets to live on land. This movie was very different from any Disney movie i’ve seen.  It’s a good movie just a little hard to understand until half way through the movie.
