Disinfect with Seventh Generation GiveawayCLOSED

It’s Spring, which means Spring cleaning time. I Really hate using cleaners that have a strong smell and most of them are toxic anyway.  Seventh Generation products are non-toxic and safe for the enviroment.

A little information on Seventh Generation:

For the past 20 years, Seventh Generation has tapped into the disinfecting power of the herb thyme, to introduce an EPA registered line of disinfecting sprays and wipes that kill germs* naturally! The new line of botanical disinfectant cleaners includes a multi-surface cleaning spray, bathroom cleaning spray and wipes. The disinfectants contain thymol, a component of the herb thyme, and can be used on hard surfaces including counter tops, plastic cutting boards, high chair trays as well as children’s toys.  Best of all, they kill over 99.99 percent of germs* naturally and are effective against the Influenza A Virus, including H1N1.

*** I received a variety of cleaning products including recycled paper towels, a caddy and a book The Conscious Kitchen.   The cleaning products are great, i don’t have to worry about strong smells or my kids breathing in harsh chemicals.  the Caddy makes it convienant to carry cleaning items upstairs.

The Book The conscious Kitchen talks about what’s good for your health, what’s good for the planet and what tastes great.  Also includes tips on maintaining a green and healthy kitchen. Some tips from the book:

  • Change is Good- Choosing cleaning products without indoor air pollutants like volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, is a simple and effective way to reduce your indoor air pollution. If you’re not prepared to switch everything overnight, start by swapping out the one product you use the most, and moving forward from there.
  • Think before you sprayResidues from cleaning products can last on a surface for longer than we we’d like to know and travel to areas that we sometimes don’t intend them to. Don’t contaminate your food by prepping it on a surface that may contain harsh chemical residues – rinse cleaning products from food preparation surfaces carefully or use botanical disinfecting cleaners that do not require a rinse step.
  • Mom Was Right, Wash Your HandsWash your hands with soap and water before and after prepping food, and always before eating. So much of what can be potentially harmful in a kitchen can be reduced by this simple act that doesn’t require any harsh chemicals whatsoever.

Start your Day Off With A Healthy Breakfast

I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t eat breakfast, well not every day at least.  Being a mom of three I just don’t really have the time. I do make sure my kids eat a good breakfast. Mainly cereal with fruits.

General Mills wants you to know the importance of breakfast, especially in children. ready-to-eat cereal eaters consume less fat, less cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters?  Cereals also deliver important vitamins, minerals and other important nutrients.

Cereal is a Great and easy way bring the family together at the table for breakfast. A study in 1998 showed that kids who ate breakfast did better in school, better on tests, fewer disciplinary problems, and are more likely to attend class on time. Compared to kids who skipped breakfast.

General Mills sent me 4 coupons to try their Cereals. We tried out Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cookie Crisp, Trix Swirl, and Fruity Cheerios. My kids loved them, they are tasty, enjoyable and still healthy. With less sugars, calcium and vitamin D, it’s a great way to enjoy breakfast. Plus my kids are so happy, they don’t have to eat just plan cereal anymore.

You can find a $1.00 off coupon for General Mills cereal here

Disclosure: I did not receive compensation for this post, I did however receive 4 coupons and information  free from General Mills through My Blog Spark for  my review.

Cheerios 100,000 book review(closed)

Cheerios has teamed up with author Jon Scieszka to donate 100,000 books to community based programs serving children. Such as daycare, head start and more. The average middle-income neighborhood has a 13-1 ratio of age appropriate books for children. While a low-income neighborhood has 1 age appropriate book for every 300 children.

You can help them donate books. Just go online with your child and test your combined knowledge of children´s books by answering trivia questions related to “Trucktown” and other great children´s books.

For every trivia question answered, you can vote for a state you would like to receive books. 5 states that have the most votes will get 20,000 books each. Wouldn’t that be so great for your state.

All you have to do to participate is go to www.FirstBook.org/Scieszka

We love Cheerios and the frosted Cheerios taste so good, please support this great cause.

In honor of this great opportunity I’m holding a giveaway with My blog Spark.

You can win a prize pack of Cheerios cereal(i received frosted Cheerios), 5 books, a $25 Barnes and noble gift card.(pictured above)

Pillsbury Bake Off

I’m really late on this post, my package got lost in the mail several times.

I see all these wonderful ladies in the blogosphere talk about their homemade recipes, and things made from scratch. I think to myself, I really wish I could cook like that, they should enter contests and see if their recipes can jumpstart their career.

Pillsbury Holds a contest every two years for people to submit their recipes, and the winner can win a big prize. The competition for thsi year was held in April, and  Judges  selected 20 recipes to be placed online at www.bakeoff.com in pairs for a period of two weeks for each pair. Consumers can vote for their favorite recipe in each pair. The recipe from each pair that wins the most votes will earn a spot in the final competition, April 11-13, 2010, in Orlando FL.

Voting is limited to one vote per person for each pairing of recipes. to vote you must be registered on www.pillsbury.com  and be 18 yrs of age by May 1, 2009 to participate.

The first pair of recipes was posted on May 14, and a new pair of recipes will be posted every 2 weeks.  The voting period for the final tenth recipe will end on Oct. 1, 2009

Here is a video featuring Jann Atkis, Bake Off Assistant Kitchen manager showing you how to evaluate recipes.

Hurry on over, voting ends soon www.bakeoff.com

Thanks to my blogspark for this opportunity
Anna Ginsberg, a stay-at-home mom who you might know from her blog, Cookie Madness, earned the $1 million prize for her Baked Chicken and Spinach Stuffing in the 42nd Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest. At the 2004 competition, the 41st Contest, former librarian wrote her own page in history by capturing the top prize with her Oats ‘n Honey Granola Pie recipe. Inspired by pecan pie, Conrad adapted a family-favorite pie and caught the judges’ attention with its wonderful flavor and simple preparation.
