Halloween Costume Time: Monster High Abbey Abominable

One of our favorite holiday characters is Abominable Snowman (Bumble). When we saw the Abbey Abominable costume for 2012, my daughter begged me for it.

Abbey Bominable is a foreign exchange student at Monster High from the North Pole, she is the daughter of the Abominable Snowman.  The costume includes leg and arm warmers and dress.

*** My daughter loves this Monster High costume. The dress was a perfect fit, but a little long. The fur neck can go around the shoulders or above the shoulders around the neck.   The dress has a beautiful pattern. The arm and leg warmers will keep my daughter warm on Halloween night. The only downside about the warmers are they shed like crazy, just taking them out of the bag we got hair everywhere.

We will be buying the wig to go along with this costume, it is the perfect matching piece.

Retail: $21.98

Big Time Rush/Rags Double Movie Pack

The boys of Big Time Rush and Keke Palmer are bringing the latest smash original Nickelodeon TV movies to DVD. The two hours of musical fun include Big Time Movie where the boys save the world with an awesome Beatles soundtrack as well as the Rags movie, a musical retelling of the classic Cinderella story with a twist. Don’t miss appearances in Rags by other loved Nickelodeon stars like Max Schneider , Avan Jogia, and Drake Bell.

*** The Big Time Rush/Rags double movie pack is 2 hours of favorite songs and sun. The Big Time Movie wasn’t really what I expected, the spy thing was just kind of weird.  I wish they would of made a movie just about them, how they met and became the popular band they are. Rags is one of my kids favorite movies, and I love it too. It’s really interesting how they made it a Cinderella story with lots of twists. My kids have watched this movie so many times now.

Release date: August 28, 2012

Starting the Conversations With My Daughter about Periods

My daughter has yet to start her period, but I know it won’t be that far away. I started early, so I know she will too. We have already started talking about periods and babies and everything that comes the maturity talk. My daughter has become interested to know, thanks to reality shows she has watched.

The easiest time to talk to her is when we are alone. Her brother and sister always make sounds and giggles that embarrass her.  Every one has said they think she i still to young to understand, after all she is only 7 1/2, but she is very smart. She is actually coming to me with things she is learning herself either from books or TV.

Now when I have to start the conversation with my middle daughter I am a bit nervous. She is more shy and reserved.   So when the conversation starts with her I think I will just take her one on one and start the conversation out slow.

I think you can tell when your child is ready when they start to ask questions about anatomy, getting breasts, sex etc.

They actually have books to help too, like The Period Book.   I know when I was younger it was easier for me to figure everything out on my own. My mom was kind of embarrassing.  I would ask her after I already had the facts to get her opinion on things.

To get girls ready for their period, Kotex has come out with a whole new line U by  Kotex Tween. the perfect thin pad with wings, that protects but won’t make your daughter feel bulky.

If you are having trouble talking to your tween about periods Kotex Tween has also set up helpful tips and videos, for you to get the talks started called Hello Period.

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a Brand Ambassador Campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of U by Kotex Tween and received products to facilitate my post and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Oraline Kids Toothbrush Sanitizer Week 2

I have been using the Oraline Kids Toothbrush Sanitizer with toothbrushes for 2 weeks now, and I am really enjoying it. I hate how dirty the tooth brushes get from the kids and there are alway little pieces of toothpaste still in the brush.

With the sanitizer it gets rid of the all the germs. It doesn’t take that long either, the uv light was on for 10 minutes than the fan comes on for 2 hours. After the sanitation the brushes come out clean, but I did notice they had a weird smell, not to bad though. It went away after a couple hours.
Our first toothbrush we used fell apart only a few days after use. The bristles started falling out when mu daughter brushed her teeth. I don’t know if it’s just the brush, or my daughter is just using it to hard.

This has actually made my bathroom more organized for my kids. Now when it’s time to brush their teeth, they just open the sanitizer and get their brush instead of it laying on the counter. Plus it is a lot more sanitary too.

Oraline Kits Make Brushing Your Teeth so Much Easier

Oraline provides Dental products for the home, child care, and professional dental practices. tehir products consist of personalized toothbrushes, floss, toothpaste, and sanitizing systems.

I received a Oraline kit to test out myself. The ordering process was very simple. You just choose the name of the child you want one the brushes and can upload a photo as well. everything comes together as a kit for a low price.

A kit contains:

  • 5 unit toothbrush sanitizer
  • 4oz bubblegum tooth gel
  • personalized toothbrush.

I really really like this kit, the toothbrushes are so cute. I got mine designed for my daughter and it has her name and picture. The picture was very small though you could hardly see it. We also received the bubblegum tooth gel. This has to be the best toothpaste/gel ever for kids.    My daughter has always had a taste problem with toothpaste. She refuses to brush her teeth because she can’t stand the taste, the bubblegum gel she really likes though. So we have had no problems, but it is a fluoride toothpaste so you need to be wary of the kids swallowing it.

The sanitizer is really neat, you just hook the toothbrushes in it, plug it in and it sanitizes them. The Uv light stays on for 10 minutes and then the fan comes on for 2-3 hours depending on how you are using the product batteries or plugged in.  It even fits regular kid toothbrushes.

This is perfect for daycares or sleep overs, or just for yourself.

Right now they are havinga  special you can get the kit for $59.95 + shipping, if your one of the first 100 to order you get this awesome gift bag full of goodies.

I have always enjoyed watching kids movies, but this one really touches the heart. I am a all about the environment and this movie really sends the message to kids. Cutting down trees is hurting our earth. when a young man sets out to invent the Snead, he finds a valley full of Truffula Trees. After he chops one down the Lorax appears and warns him of the dangers, he doesn’t listen. Soon their world is an enclosure with no real trees.

That all changes when a young man wants to impress a girl and sets out to hear the story of what happened to the trees.
This movie has become one of my favorites now, it’s a cartoon but not only for kids. The mini movies are so funny and cute.

Summer Reading With Scholastic Books

School is out and summer is here, which mean kids are not thinking about learning but having fun.  It’s important to keep kids involved with learning and staying on top by reading everyday.

We love to read and are alway on the lookout for new books. Now that my daughter is 7 she is starting to read series and chapter books.

We were sent 2 different series of books from scholastic and my kids just loved them.

We received two books from the fly Guy Series:

Ride Fly Guy Ride and Fly Guy vs. The Fly Swatter (ages4-7)

We love the Fly guy series because it’s easy to read and the Fly Guy just goes on crazy adventures. It is a chapter book, but most books only have 5 chapters and about 30 pages. It’s a very smile book even my 6-year-old is reading them with no problems.

We also received the Scholastic discover more series:

Discover more: Ocean and Sea (ages 8+)

Discover More: Planets (5-7)

My kids have been really interested in our planet and everything on it. The Ocean and Sea book is very informative talking about the oceans and what inside them, how they form, life in the ocean, Tsunamis, threats and more.  My kids really loved the pictures most of all, they are close up of animals and oceans, not leaving out any detail.

The planets book lists all the planets and what they are made of, or have. It also talks about all of our discoveries through space like the first man on the moon and the Mars rover. The book even cover timeline of events so it’s not to confusing when the planets were discovered or when an event happened. It even mentions galaxies, stars and even aliens, in case there is life on other planets.

both of the Discover More books, have a free digital book.

My kids have already read through all these books but insist that they will ke reading them over and over, and even continue our collection.

You can order these books on scholastic or pick them up at any bookstore.

Don’t forget to log your minutes in the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge.

Tail Town Friends Is So Much Fun With GiveawayClosed

I usually use computer games as a way to relax and calm down at the end of the day, it just seems relaxing for me. It has to be a simp game though, not something that is competitive or confusing.

Tail Town Friends is the fun new game similar to Farmville. Tail Towns Friends is the free to play Facebook game, about a mouse with big dreams about having his own farm/orchard. Friends and players can help each other out with energy and sharing to make your country dreams come true.

I jus started playing this game today and it was very easy and fun. First you have a series of goals to accomplish, like clearing out an orchard to earn enough acorns to buy it. Once you own it you can buy crops, decorations, houses and so much more to save Greenwood from the big business taking all the fruit away. You do run out of energy fast, but can purchase more with Facebook credits or ask your friends to share theirs. The photo-realistic graphics and beauty of the game are what makes it so much fun, not to mention the drama and juicy soap opera like story lines.

I am only on level two but am already starting to become a little addicted to this game, once you start it’s hard to stop. I want to reach all th goals and collect the figurines. The figurines you buy and they come with a secret code that can unlock the figure on Facebook.
Once the figurine unlocks, you can complete their stories and unlock decorations and more. There are 12 figurines total, but they will be releasing later this year. The figurines are custom-designed polystone figurines, that are hand painted and have beautiful detail.

This is actually one of the Facebook games I would let my kids play and have fun with. It is simple for a kid and something they would enjoy.

To get you interested in playing the game, I am giving away one of the Figurines. The Ballerina figurine is so beautiful, whose tune will she dance too? She is the first set of figurines to be released. To see what other figurines will be released you can visit here.

To enter the contest, You must DESCRIBE your ‘dream garden’ or ‘country getaway’ in a tweet using the HASHTAG #TailTowns. Then come here and leave the link telling me you did.
