Looney Tunes Eating right for kids

Warner Bros. consumer products and Safeway have teamed up to create a better for you line of food for children.  Bring flavor and nutrition together along with images of the Looney characters. The line includes breakfast, portable meals, diry, snacks, and beverages. Each product has characters ranging from Marvin the martian, Taz, Bugs Bunny and more.

Obesity is a growing problem among our children nationwide, which, if not addressed, can lead to severe health issues in adulthood.  As parents, teaching healthy eating habits and educating our children on how to choose to eat healthy is one of the best habits you can instill in your kids. 

o According to a 2009 study, almost 1 in 5 American 4-year-olds is obese – that’s more than half a million 4-year-olds.
o The number of overweight and obese children (10 to 17 years old) is at or above 30 percent in 30 states.
o Research has also shown that overweight and obese children generally go on to become obese adults, with all the chronic, weight-related health issues that involves, such as heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure.

My children love fruits, so i always make sure to have plenty. they are good for you and a lot better than other foods. My daughters do have a problem of asking for dessert after every meal, and I’ll admit that i cave in sometimes.  I try and teach them that if you eat all your good nutritious food, then you’ll get rewarded. i have changed the reward from cookies to yogurt.  They never complain!  What works best is to have no unhealthy food in the house.   I also try to mix some veggies into certain foods. like onions in to burgers, green beans into salad, plus i’ve been making a lot of pasta salad.  Its worked!

I recently got the chance to Review two The Zula Patrol DVDS.

Animal Adventures in Space:the team explores how insects, reptiles, mammals, plants and rocks form and interact with each other.  In Larvae or Leave Me (the first episode), Skip the grasshopper can’t find his friend Wriggly the caterpillar – until he discovers, with help from The Zula Patrol, that Wriggly has transformed into a beautiful butterfly!  Four additional stories on the DVD are:  Egg Hunt, There Goes the Neighborhood, Choosing Sides and Camp Worm .  No job is too big for The Zula Patrol, as they search for stolen frog eggs, help restore life to a canyon ecosystem, solve the mystery of the missing honey, and tunnel through dirt with their worm comrades to help the trees grow – and end up thwarting a threatened “alien invasion” from another planet.

Moons  Mayhem:follows the intrepid team from Zula in six humor-filled stories that begin with a challenge, and end with a resolution, as they explore the fascinating, often volatile world of moons.  The episodes include: Moon Struck, Blue Moon, Going Through a Phase, Moons Mayhem, Three Ring Gorga and Me, Myself and Io.  It’s non-stop lunar adventure for The Zula Patrol, as they as they rescue a turbulent Venus, who is on a quest to acquire a moon of her own; discover the many moons of Jupiter during Jupiterfest; explore the composition of the surface of Earth’s moon; help save Bula from an awful Were-Mouse curse, and thwart Dark Truder’s nefarious plan to steal all the moons within the solar system.

***  My children and I really liked these DVDS. They are packed with fun and learning.  My children love learning about different planets and space.  plus both dvds have bonus features, 5 sing a long songs and an introduction to www.zulaworld.com

Ocean Isle Beach stay

103_2136If you haven’t heard already, I visited Ocean Isle Beach and was a guest blogger at Ocean Isle Inn.  It was a long 4 hour drive but worth it. 

 

 

 

 

 

The Room- I got a room with a ocean view, so beautiful. It comes with a fridge and microwave  which  is a plus having kids with me. plus they had a coffee maker, ironing board with iron, hair dryer and free wifi.   the room was very nice and had a beautiful ocean view.  you get a free complimentary breakfast too. The only complaint is the beds were a little high.

They have two pools for your enjoyment, a outdoor pool, with a deck that connects to the beach. It also has a outdoor shower so you can rise off sand. They have an indoor heated pool with a spa.  they are both very nice and relaxing.

We also had a chance to explore around, they have some great restaurants like The Giggling Mackerel, Cinellis pizza, and they also had a small food and ice cream parlor/arcade next too ocean isle inn. they have a recreation building next door, which also can give you access to the pier. We did not go on the peir though,  they charge a dollar for adults and fifty cents per child. I refused to pay to walk down a pier.

We loved staying at the Ocean Isle Inn, It’s a small hotel but very quiet an relaxing.  We visited Myrtle Beach during our stay, and i would have to say i would rather stay at Ocean Isle. no fighting crowds, quiet, relaxing. There is no lifeguard tower near by, so you swim at your own risk.

*** We watched this movie the minute we got it. My daughters only age 3 and 4 are big Hannah Montana fans.  They absolutely loved the movie. It was really funny, emotional, happy, sad all in one.  It’s mainly about a girls getting caught up in the royalty of being famous. Then finding her roots and self when she goes back home.  This movie was very enjoyable for even me.  There are a lot of exciting parts, but i don’t want to spoil it for those who have not yet seen it.   I do have one of her songs stuck in my head. the ho down. boom clap boom De clap De clap.

what i liked about the extras:       I absolutely love where Jackson gets bite by the ostrich, he said that was the onlt thing he was scared of and it happened. so funny!  I also liked Miley’s music video “Climb” very touching and a very good song.  it was really interesting to see how different it is growing up in a small town, compared to growing up in hollywood.

My family and I got to experiance the fun and excitement of Build A Bear.   I have never been to Build A Bear before this  trip, and honestly i had it all wrong. My impression always was i’d spend at least $80 to $100 if i went in there.

Our experience overall was great we picked out our bears. We chose Hannah Montana Bear, Hello Kitty, and the new Autumn Fall Bear.

i got to try out two perfumes by Harvey PrinceAgeless and eAu fLirt.

Ageless:  This fragrance defies your skins natural age revealing scent.    Ageless is an aromatic essence of pink grapefruit, mango, anti-oxidant rich pomegranate, jasmine and musk. This perfume is said to make you smell younger.

This perfume definitely smelled great, did it make me smell younger, no I’m only in my twenty’s.   The scent of grapefruit does give it a refreshing scent to make you feel younger. i really liked it .

  The downsides are it only comes in one size bottle. 3.4 oz and costs $120

I’ll admit I’m a sucker for junk food if it’s in the house i have no control. My children know it’s there and will beg for it constantly.   I have learned that i need to overcome my own eating habits before i can cotrol my children’s eating habits.  Some of the challenges i face are getting my kids to eat healthy. They have som great new healthy foods for children out that have the looney tunes characters on them.
