Best German Potato Salad

One of the sides we had with Thanksgiving dinner this year was German Potato Salad. We had never had it before but my husband had gotten a good recipe from my Father-In-Law.

The recipe:
4 cups red potatoes diced
a package of hormel bacon
1 onion diced
2 tablespoons water
1/4 cup white vinegar
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper

DSCN2379

Place Potatoes in a pot with water covering, boil and cook for about 10 minutes or until soft. drain and set aside.

Cook bacon in a large skillet or 2 over medium high heat. Cook until they are brown and crip then remove from skillet and set aside.

DSCN2380

Drain some of the bacon grease, (if you use it all it will make the potatoes soggy). Add onions to remaining bacon grease and cook over medium heat until golden brown. Add the salt and pepper, water, sugar, and vinegar to the pan. Bring to a boil the add potatoes. Crumble half the bacon into the mix. let t heat through the pan, put in a serving dish and add remaining bacon.

It’s best to serve the German Potato Salad warm. If made early put in a casserole dish covered and put in the oven at 400 degrees for 5 minutes.

Cure 81 Ham Group Web resize

We always have Thanksgiving at home, as we don’t have any family really close. It’s better for us as we get to choose what to make. Every Thanksgiving we usually do a medley of different foods, my kids are really really picky.
This year we are having a Turkey, as well as a Hormel Cure 81 Ham. Then of course all the trimmings, potatoes, veggies etc. I love having a small ham every year, because leftovers go great with breakfasts.

We love making Hormel Cure 81 ham every year, it’s pre-made and can be cooked while or by the slice. It’s great for Thanksgiving dinner or to have with your sandwiches, breakfast and so much more.

Hormel Cure 81 hams come in all different sizes, we usually just get 1 lb or 2. The ham comes pre-sliced and makes it so much easier to serve.

I love Pizza, who doesn’t? I often find that pizza places can be to expensive and even buying frozen t the store can be costly. Plus I like my pizza fresh and not super greasy.

My mom would make French Bread pizza when I was younger and I just took the idea and ran with it.

All you really need for you pizza for one is
Sub Rolls
Pizza sauce (any will do)
Mozzarella Cheese
Hormel Pepperoni
and other topping you would like.

DSCN2200

Just cut the sub roll so it’s spread open.
Add Pizza Sauce, spread on inside of roll
Cover with your mozzarella cheese
Add your Hormel Pepperoni and other toppings

Your oven should be set at 400 and bake for 10 minutes.

DSCN2201

I love the pizza sub actually more than a slice of pizza. It comes out super crispy and delicious. You can choose to fold it over and have it like a pizza sandwich or just as is.

Have you ever tried a pizza sub or french bread pizza?

We are finally into a schedule with back to school. It took a while, as its a new area and new school, so took a while. We are mixing between the kids eating at school and packing lunches.

To start the school year off I wanted to get the kids something special to pack in their lunch. It may seem a bit odd, but my kids love Cheese and crackers, pepperoni and cheese with crackers etc. I bought a Hormel Family Party Tray to celebrate back to school. I originally bought it as snack at home after school, but the kids ripped right into to it and used it for their lunches.

DSCN2048

Packing everything they could between the cheese, crackers, salami, and pepperoni. The entire party tray was gone in 2 days just from them using it for packing lunches.

We have always loved Hormel party trays, they are the perfect fr snacking, parties, or any occasion. Party trays come with a variety of cheeses, crackers, salami and thick pepperoni. They are so delicious.

Have you ever tried a Hormel Party Tray?

Lloyds has a new line of ribs to add to their product line. Flame seared baby back ribs are the perfect choice for Summer BBQs. Unlike Lloyds regular ribs, the flame seared are more juicy and a bit spicy.

The flame-seared dry rub pork ribs use the finest quality cuts of meat. Enjoy the slow-simmered taste and open-fire flavor alongside green beans, corn on the cob or macaroni and cheese.

** These ribs were a little bit spicy but were oh so good. Match them up with a nice salad, corn on the cob and you have the perfect summer meal. Lloyds ribs are fully cooked already, so just follow the directions to heat up on the grill.

Whats your favorite style of ribs? Did you cook any this summer?

Best BBQ Beef Around #HormelFamily

We lived in the south for 4 1/2 years and came to love the taste of slow cooked BBQ beef, no one can make it the way they can in the south. Unfortunately for me I don’t even have the patience to try. It’s a lot of time, even though the slow cooker does most of the work. So I have found the best BBQ beef around and its right in the grocery store.

IMG_1932

Luckily for me their is Lloyd’s BBQ Beef available and ready anytime. All you have to do is heat it up in the microwave. It has cme one of my easy go to meals for dinner or lunch and my kids love it.

IMG_1933

This has become one of our favorite past time meals. The best BBQ places are so far away and making it myself is so time consuming and not to mention all the ingredients are a bit expensive.

Lloyd’s BBQ comes in both Chicken and Beef and retail for $3.99 at retailers Nationwide. You can find out more about Lloyd’s products here.

Now that the kids are home for the summer, I am looking for fun things to make during Lunch. The kids had lunches packed all year long so I want to be able to spice it up and cook for them.

My kids asked for something with melted cheese and I wanted to do something different than grilled cheese. I decided to make Quesadillas, and the kids loved them.

I used Herdez Tortilla
Monteray Jack cheese
a frying pan

Heat the pan to medium, and place tortilla shell in frying pan. Top with shredded cheese, then another tortilla shell. flip after 1 minute and check that the cheese is melted.

When done put on a plate and cut into 4 slices serve.
